Hello Twiga,

I have experience with the Katzeye on my Nikon D7000. I found it to be quite complicated to install myself but did get it done but not without a few scratches showing in the eyepiece. These do not transfer to the picture being taken. I have also found that the split image is so small that I have difficulty using it and rely totally on the auto focus. If I was going to do it over I would have it installed professionally which I have heard costs around $50 bucks. That added to the $100+ cost makes it rather expensive. So, my recommendation would be to not buy it but learn all you can about your auto focus!

On my beloved old Minolta XD11 the focusing was done with a split prism screen...of course I COULD see better in those days but still, I just remember that little split circle....and when it was in focus, MAN! it just snapped into sharpness and I knew I had the shot.....
Now I have my equally beloved but soooooo frustrating Nikon D40. I have to rely on autofocus...and its just not satisfying...I never feel that wonderful snap...and I also know many of my shots are soft....
sooooo....I found (with google's help) an outfit called Katzeye and they make split prism focusing screens for NikonD40!
Does anyone have advice? experience? suggestions? I think I want one of these...but am waiting to hear what the learned and respected Hogs think....:)

anyone have any experience with Nikkor 18-200 VRII lens?

Yes, I have had a VRI for about 5 years. I originally bought it new for my D80. Then I bought a D7000 and am using the lens on that camera. I am very happy with the results and especially like the versatility and having zoom and wide angle all rolled up in one package and don't need to expose the inside of my camera to dust because I don't change lenses. I am very happy with the quality of pictures. The newer VRII models have a lock feature that keeps the lens from drifting out when you tilt the camera down.

New rule - # to be assigned

He/She who has the fastest power cart is never out of bounds.

Golf Rule Changes for Seniors:

Rule 1.a.5
A ball sliced or hooked into the rough shall be lifted and placed on the fairway at a point equal to the distance it carried or rolled into the rough with no penalty. The senior should not be penalized for tall grass which ground keepers failed to mow.

Rule 2.d.6 (B)
A ball hitting a tree shall be deemed not to have hit the tree. This is simply bad luck and luck has no place in a scientific game. The senior player must estimate the distance the ball would have travelled if it had not hit the tree and play the ball from there.

Rule 3.B.3 (G)
There shall be no such thing as a lost ball. The missing ball is on or near the course and will eventually be found and pocketed by someone else, making it a stolen ball. The player is not to compound the felony by charging himself or herself with a penalty.

Rule 4.c.7 (h)
If a putt passes over a hole without dropping, it is deemed to have dropped. The Law of Gravity supersedes the Rules of Golf.

Rule 5
Putts that stop close enough to the cup that they could be blown in, may be blown in. This does not apply to balls more than three inches from the hole. No one wants to make a travesty of the game.

Rule 6.a.9 (k)
There is no penalty for so-called "out of bounds". If penny-pinching golf course owners bought sufficient land, this would not occur.. The senior golfer deserves an apology, not a penalty.

Rule 7..G.15 (z)
There is no penalty for a ball in a water hazard, as golf balls should float. Senior golfers should not be penalized for manufacturers' shortcomings.

Rule 8.k.9 (S)
Advertisements claim that golf scores can be improved by purchasing new golf equipment. Since this is financially impractical for many senior golfers, one-half stroke per hole may be subtracted for using old equipment.

Please advise all your senior friends of these important rule changes. And they are written big enough that most of you should be able to read them!

I solved that problem by getting a Canon SX50HS. Now I leave all that heavy stuff at home. Everything I need in one little box!

I am having trouble with carrying tripod, camera bag with lenses. I recently went to Lettuce Park and it was difficult to carry all these items. Any suggestions to lighten the load and make it easier to carry when shooting in parks, festivals, etc???? Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you in advance. I have a Nikon D5100 with 18mm-55mm; 55mm-200mm lenses, filters sets, tripod. There has to be an easier way to switch lenses quickly than getting into my backpack after setting on bench, ground, etc.

Great pictures Dook! SX50 or D7100? I just tried 2.0X for the first time on the SX. Much fun!

Thanks everybody for your comments. The last pic is a floating barbecue which can be rented out. I went out in it for a sunset river cruise & barbie with a local sporting club once. Great night, but we were lucky we had a designated driver, lol.

Hi Dook,

Great pictures! Could it be that the black cow only moved his head and kept his body still through all the shots?

HAS ANYBODY NOTICED? On #2 download, you will see two youngsters facing the camera. Immediately behind them is a black cow with a white face, side on to the camera. There is a ghost image of the cow's head & neck. This would normally be caused by movement between two of the HDR exposures. However, the cow was half asleep & a tripod was used. Also, why is the cow's head the only part affected? If there was movement, the whole image would have this affect. Any ideas? :-)

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the info. That crooked picture I took was my very first with the new camera and at 50X and I was so excited that all I was doing was looking at the roses. I later did discover that my camera was already set to show the leveling tool. I had post corrected the problem but when I was attaching them to UHH I picked the wrong picture and missed the post picture. I am having a ball with this little beauty!

Fezz & everyone else with the SX50: Turn on your camera, press menu, scroll right to the wrench and hammer icon, press func set, scroll down the next list almost to the bottom, till you have electronic level then press func set. Follow the prompts to calibrate the level You will then have a electronic level on the screen.

That is one nice feature I really like about my SX50

I could say that the house is leaning but it was really me!

I just received my new Canon SX50HS yesterday afternoon and have been giving it a test run. I love it! I think I'll just leave my heavy old D7000 at home! Here are a couple of test shots. The red roses are 3 blocks away and the other flowers in our garden. This is a keeper!
