That is a Spotted Lantern Fly, that entomologist are asking us to kill on sight.

My brick-and-mortar camera store in Raliegh uses an old-fashioned shaving brush, the kind that Old Spice used to sell to clean the dust out of the nooks and crannies on the body. It covers a little more territory than the smaller camel hair makeup brushes.

Thank you all for your insightful replies. I can see the wisdom of bracketing and blending in post.
Would something like the Lee System still be of use for ND filters rather than screw in ND filters for motion blur effect?

I have registered for a landscape photography workshop. One item that they strongly recommend that I bring is a set of graduated neutral density filters, one 2 stop and one 4 stop. One of my lenses is a Tokina 11-16mm ultrawide. I am concerned about vignetting with this lens. Before I buy anything, does anyone have any suggestions for a system that will work with this lens?
Thanks in advance.

You are off to a great start! As already mentioned, pay attention to what's behind the dragon.

Thank you for some great suggestions. I will try to internalize them incorporate them in my next shoot.

You are off to a great start. I would suggest a faster shutter speed to eliminate some of the softness in these images. Just a thought. They are quite nice as is.

I will try, the gentleman who was coaching me had me shooting in aperture priority, so the camera was picking SS.

Looks to me like you are off to a great start. Be advised, this can become very addictive. Pretty soon you will know what each type is and whether it is a male or female. Doc Shark will be a great help here. OK, I'm off to shoot some of my own!

Oh no, not another obsession. I have "Dragonflies & Damselflies of Georgia and the Southeast" by Giff Beaton and will start trying to identify the species I capture.

Impressive set Bob. With the small DOF you have to "square yourself up" with the dragon. It can be very important if you are trying to capture the field markings on their thorax or abdomen for ID. It can be very tricky as I'm sure you've found that even the slightest movement can spook them. All of your dragons are Blue Dashers except the green one which is a female Eastern Pondhawk. Fine work.

Thank you Doc, I have a water garden in my backyard that attracts the dragons. The Blue Dashers seem to predominate but there are other species, but I have not been able to get them to accept my presence and land. I well keep observing their preferred landing sites and wait for them to come to me.

Now that you are this good begin to think of the background.

Excellent point. All I was thinking about was the bug. Composition has always been a weak point in my images.
