During the cold months, I always remember to make sure that food is out even if I have to shovel the snow away from an area for them to eat.
I sometimes put raw beef pieces out for the Cooper Hawk, which he /she really likes. I'm happy they all give me a reason to brave the cold and take their picture right in my own back yard. The owl was a surprise to have sitting on my fence but the finch is always looking for food from the hanging birdfeeder.

I thought I'd try going down to the river to catch the sunrise on a cold morning (19 degrees). Sorry to say I didn't last to long, but couldn't pass up the sky colors of a early morning before the sun had risen.
I had the camera on a tri-pod and use the Av setting at F 7.5 and ISO of 200 with a camera release to prevent camera shake.

Still trying to get my setting correct. I did think ahead and had a spare battery in my pocket and had to use it since 19 degrees was draining them fast. My lens was a Cannon 75-300,pics were taken on the AV mode using a remote attached to the camera. F 7.5 Auto WB and shot in RAW format.

It was a very cloudy early morning as I went out to take a picture of the clouds moving past the moon. Will I was able to get this one as the rain began closing the sky from any other chance of capturing the moon.

Picture info: Aperture Priority, Exposure 1/4 sec, F7.1, ISO -6400,Lens Cannon 55-250.

Trying to learn all the correct camera setting for the different light changes. Heavy rain clouds moved in just as I was set on capturing a blue sky sunrise. I was set on AV with a
75-300 mm Cannon lens F7.1 ISO 100 seemed to work I think, all advice and comment are welcomed. I know, practice is helpful but sometime frustrating.

As my morning in search of a sunrise nothing but clouds, but it was a beautiful show just the same. I used my Cannon 55-250 mm Lens set to AV with a ISO of 100. Wished I had my wide angle lens, but I was happy just to get the action of the dark clouds on the move. The only adjustment made to these were to convert them to JEPG for this posting. Any ideas which lens would work better?

Thanks in advance for any helpful advice, still just a armature learning a new hobby for my retirement.

Had fun at our state park. Many out fishing of the jetty just enjoying the warm weather, no jackets needed. I love taking pictures of the jetty, it makes you look to the sea and wonder.

A beautiful nice evening on the patio watching the animals and insects feed. The grasshopper was the first I've seen in my area in a very long time, nice to see some have survived. I still have my Cannon with a 75-300 mm lens, using Av setting with a fast shutter speed. Being I'm just starting out I don't have that many lenses so I make do while I learn and enjoy getting out with a purpose.
