Reason I own a Leica is the fact I found it at yard sale for $75.00 with 50mm lens, owner manual, item for cutting film, book on Leica. No way would I be own it, if I had to pay what it is value at. therwol what you wrote is dead on. Like I said my Pentax K 1000 can give me just as good pictures as my Leica. Today Japanese camera makers rule the world of cameras.

I don't look on my Leica as the Rolls Royce of cameras. I got it to see what makes it tick, from that I came to like it. If someone wants to give me cazy money for it, I not going to stop them. It their money, not my.

I not saying that a Leica camera is any better than any other camera. I have had Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Retina, and others camera. My Pentax K 1000 can take pictures just as good as my Leica IIIb. So why the Leica? It the history behind my Leica. I understand why people back in the 1930s & 40s wanted Leica cameras. Having own a few Nikons, I found Nikon's camera over rated. Reason for this is Nikon Company had a great P.R. Dept. Out side of my Pentax ,need battery for light meter only, I don't need any batteries for my cameras, which is great. Back to my Leica which was made in 1938, still working fine and value keep going up. Will one be able to said that with DSLR camera 81 years from now?

Have own a Canon AV-1, AE-1, T-70 and AE-1 Program, must say said that Canon's camera are a good camera to use.

I have a Leica IIIb with the factory 50mm lens with it. Was using it last summer at a car show, people would come up to me and ask what the camera. A few knew what it was and would ask me would I sell it. I said no, it a keeper. The one draw back with Leica cameras like the Leica IIIb is loading film into the camera, this is major reason people don't want a model like the Leica IIIb. Outside of loading film, it is a great camera to work with. Rate now I am using a Nicca Model 3-S which is a clone of Leica IIIc. What I wrote about the Leica IIIb is all so true for Nicca 3-S.
