I was wondering if others are having a problem finding the BB code. I don't have the little arrow, so I am unable to share.

SLSL1962-Male Bobcat by Sherwood Lincoln, on Flickr A parting picture of This old Tom I call Goldie (AKA Bobcat Goldthwait) before he is relegated to a file deep in my computer. Male Bobcats have a range of about twenty sq. mi., which usually overlaps one or more females. Male Bobcats are not monogamous and will breed with as many females as possible. The males have no part in raising the young. They eat anything from insects To an occasional small deer. Bobcats, like most cats, are wait-and-stalk hunters. Have a super fantastic day.

SL2R5576- Osprey by Sherwood Lincoln, on Flickr The last of the Ospreys. These conspicuous large hawks are pretty easy to find; they inhabit most lakes, salt shores, bays, and inlets. Fifty years ago, you would be hard-pressed to find one in Ct. They may be easy to find now but getting good photos can be challenging. I have spent many hrs. trying to get the right shot. All images were taken in Southeastern Ct. with a Canon 5D M IV and Canon 100 to 400 Il. I sincerely appreciate your comments. Thank you.

As a retired biologist for the State of Connecticut with 33 years of service I can state, without a doubt, the image is of tom Bobcat.

I did not know you were a Ct.biologist You might know Bob Sampson. He and I have been friends for years. I haven't seen him in a while I know he had some problems. PS thanks for the corrections.
Cheers Sherwood

SL2L0025 Bobcat by Sherwood Lincoln, on Flickr
Ct . Bobcats have made a remarkable comeback considering we had a bounty on them until 1971. The last one legally killed was in Old Saybrook Ct., and I knew the man who killed it. The media heard about it and printed the story; there was such an outrage the state reclassafied and protected them. Today, we regularly see them in our neighborhood, but getting a fair photo can be difficult. This big (tom) Bobcat crossed my yard a couple of days ago; I can tell he is a male by the size about 20% bigger than the (queen) female also (trying not to be crude) his package! Bobcats are mainly carnivores and survive by hunting and eating small mammals, birds, insects, reptiles, and unattended small pets. They are not dangerous to people.

SL2L42843 Drake American Wigeon by Sherwood Lincoln, on Flickr
These may be the best drake Wigeon I have ever photographed. From Whatbird.com, "The American Wigeon was formerly known as "Baldpate" because the white stripe on their crown resembles a bald man's head. Their diet has a higher proportion of plant matter than any other dabbling duck diet. Their short blue bill enables them to exert more force at the bill tip than other dabbling ducks. All photos are taken in Southeastern Ct. most with a Canon 5D Mark IV and Canon 100 to 400II

SLR_0562 Male Eastern Bluebird by Sherwood Lincoln, on Flickr

The small Sumac tree/bush has small berries known as drupes. The drupes persist through the winter. Hardy birds like; Woodpeckers, Thrushes, Sparrows, and waxwings will exist on these and others without making the long and punishing trip south. The picture would be of a male Eastern Bluebird, a Thrush if you did not know. All photos were taken in Southeastern Ct. with a Canon 5D M IV and Canon 100 to 400 Il. I sincerely appreciate your comments. Thank you.

SLS2000X Red-eyed Vireo by Sherwood Lincoln, on Flickr

Red-eyed Vireo. "An animal's eyes have the power to speak a great language."― Martin Buber. Does the eye of the beholder behold its own eyes? I ponder these worldly questions frequently, with never an answer! LOL.
