Starting to print on a Epson Surecolor P-600 using only Epson paper, all types.
For 8X10 prints, Epson makes 8X10 and 8.5X10 paper, WHY??

I want to place them in nice matted frames for our home.

Question is:
Do I use the 8X10 or 8.5X10 and should they be with a border or borderless?
I do NOT want to get into expensive custom frames, just standard, but high end frames with Matte.

Why would Epson do this??
Tom. doctp

The size is 8.5x11, not 8.5x10.

I print an 8.000x10.000 image on 8.5x11 paper. I mount it on a base mat. I put a beveled window mat (7.75x9.75 opening) over that, and frame it. I crop a wee bit loosely, of course.

I have no idea why you are asking, “Why would Epson do this?”

Linda from Maine was helpful, ty.
Before trying @020, thought I'd put another question out there about other programs.
Years ago, I had heard that the Nikon software was difficult to use, Has it changed in the last 5 years?

I've an amateur photographer for many years shooting family, vacations etc Just JPEG.
Now retired with lots of time, want to start post processing.
Just bought Adobe elements 2020, haven't opened it yet.

please suggest very simple software for basic post processing without monthly or yearly subscriptions. Will Adobe 2020 fit my needs?

Just need the basics, cropping, noise reduction, adjust histogram, color adjustments etc.

I will never be a pro or wedding photographer or have images in a museum, would be just great framed gifts for family and walls in our home.
D 500 and lots of good Nikon glass and Epson sure color P-600 printer.

Simplicity is key!! All suggestions appreciated!

Ty, I spoke with someone but Unfortunatly they were not very knowlegible!
I will go with my Dell lap top but think I’ll have to rebuy Lightroom, can’t find the serial#. Was located on the envelope the disc came in!
I have the box and disc, no envelope, so no serial #
How frustrating
Guess I’ll have to spring for the subscription of $10.00/ month.
I’m so frustrated. The elements just organizes, no manipulation like light room!
Anything free that is half way good and user friendly?

Yes, I had on hand Photoshop Lightroom 6 from years ago and don’t know if I ever registered it.
I had a a different computer then.
Now, having forgotten about the Photoshop Lightroom 6, I just purchased photoshop elements 2020
I have not opened it yet.
Now I have 2 laptops:
Dell inspirion 7586, i7, with 389 Gb free storage , 1.8 GHz, 16 Gb ram,64 bit operating system , 15” laptop
And:
Apple Airbook retina. 13”, 2019
1.6 GHz, dual core intel i5
Memory 8 Gb, 2133mhz LPDDR3
Graphics: intel uhd 617 1536Mb
Version: 10.15.4
Mac OS Catalina.
Display: 2560x1600
Graphics: intel uhd 617 1536 mb graphics
251 GB flash storage, 194 unused.
So, seems like the 15” dell running windows might be better..BUT, since I’m serious about this should I consider a desktop, what brand, ram, memory, graphics, resolution and monitors size??
That’s the big question, it would be devoted only to photography!
Ty for being so patient.

Ty so very much for your in depth response!
Sounds like I’ll call adobe and see if I had registered it or not.
I’ve been so busy, and computer illiterate, I can’t remember if I did or not !!
If I can get light room 6 up to date and running, would u advise using only LR6 or 2020??
Running both at the same time would confuse the heck out of me!!
I have a Dell 15” laptop that should handle it, but also have a MacBook Air , just bought.
Would you advise a desktop windows computer just for photography?
I just retired, approaching 70 and I’m going crazy, so I want to renew my life long interest in photography.
Using a Nikon d 500 with Nikon 200-400 VC#1, 105 micro Nikkor, 70-200 Nikkor af-s, f-2.8 G and a few others.
Printer is Epson P 600.
Have all the stuff, just have to learn how to use it!!

Ty Joe, Really appreciate your time and more importantly, your service!
I’m try to do my part, I’m the chief surgeon for the NYS Troopers, do what I can to help the guys out who protect us!
I also found a copy of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6.
Didn’t even remember that I had it, don’t even know if I registered it!! Lol.
If I can use it or upgrade it, which should I use, Lightroom 6 or PSE 2020?
Thx,
Tom
