Just a few photos of some local trout streams. My other hobby is fly fishing, and I'm better at it than I am at photography. But I'm still learning both.

My AppleTV using my Flickr photos as sceensaver continues to surprise me. On my computer, a lot of photos appear dull and drab. Colors seem washed out. But on the TV, photos I yawned over before seem to come alive.

I spotted this one yesterday. Found the RAW file and decided to process it using both Luminar 3 and Aurora HDR 2019. Luminar didn't work, and the tools in Aurora, while similar to those in other software, still need some getting used to. I think I need to go back and fine tune the dodging and burning.

For those not in the know, there is a "back side" to Bryce Canyon NP. This was taken on the Mossy Cave trail. Some truly nice photo opps here, not your "same old" Bryce shots.

I use Flickr as my AppleTV screensaver. Yesterday, I saw a photo I had taken that I didn't remember. On my TV, the colors popped, and I really liked the rendition. But on my computer, the same photo doesn't seem to have the same effect. I'm posting it here to see what it looks like to others. This is the photo of the Virgin River in Zion NP, just as it exists on Flickr. Pop? Or no pop?

A very nice capture, Fred. Maybe not a lot of pop, but I like it a lot as it is. Very realistic. It reminds me of a nice color film photograph. Too many shots on here are over processed, and I suppose that I'm guilty of that as well. It's refreshing to see something that's not so artsy once in a while. But I must admit that it looks better with what ever the man made object on the right is , cropped out.

Anyone know if it supports Nikon Z6 RAW files?

Also would appreciate comparison to Lightroom.

I use Darktable, and it works quite well for me. I've read that it compares favorably to Lightroom. I don't know about the Z6 RAW files though. If it doesn't work, you could convert to DNG files and still use it. It's free, so you could download it and give it a try. Thanks for the post, I didn't know there was a more current version than 2.4.4, and I just updated mine. Happy Holidays!

Here are some photos from last Monday, 12/17. I just posted three from the previous day. The photos were taken along Asilomar State Beach in Pacific Grove (between Monterey and Carmel). They closed all of the parking areas due to the big waves; you could see where the waves had gone over the road. It was wild and beautiful. Those were the biggest waves there in two years. All photos were taken with my Canon 80D using my EF-S 18-135 lens and were post-processed in Lightroom. I'll post the final set in a few minutes.

I hope you enjoy them.

Beautiful. Good focus with nice depth of field, good composition, and the water looks like water should look in this type of scene, very powerful and not like cotton candy. The colors are great as well.

Linda had posted a thread earlier highlighting some landscapes that
were images taken much closer than the so-called traditional landscapes.

There was a discussion there and on an earlier post about "intimate" landscape
photography which I found to be quite interesting. While I certainly do enjoy the
many gorgeous images posted of those traditional landscapes, I am particularly
drawn to a closer look at Mother Nature's offerings without going macro.

There's just something about the textures that are so intriguing, I had to post
what I feel are intimate landscapes. I encourage further discussion on this
topic as well as critique of what I've submitted here.

And, please, feel free to add your own "intimate" landscapes.

I've always thought that an intimate landscape was a photo that was extracted from a grand vista type landscape, in order to zoom in and show more of the fine details that might go almost unnoticed in the original shot. But I could be wrong. At any rate, these are very nice images. Well done!
