I have had a pretty good experience with both Schillers (www.schillers.com) and Creve Coeur Camera (www.cccamera.com). I guess it's also the sales person who you talk to in the place. I do recommend them both and have also attended events at both stores.

I have both an ASUS gaming machine and a Mac Desktop. I prefer my PC over the Mac. It works faster and for me produces better results.

I gave up on photoshop when they switched to being cloud based (I still use my installed version every so often), but I now use Paint.Net which is free and does most everything that PS does.

I always have a UV or Sky filter on my lens, and am glad I did. A rock was shot by some fireworks and cracked the filter but the lens was okay. Switch out the filter and continue shooting. I look at it this way, $30 for a filter or $1300 for a new lens.

With as quick and the models change and new features are added (almost as fast as computers were changing a few years back), I feel that there is no such thing as a camera for the rest of my life. The only rest of the life thing here is the lenses, which that is the expensive part, in other words, if you have a bunch of Canon EF lenses, get bodies to fit.

I own the Sigma Contemporary. It does very well for my needs on a Canon 7D. I have shot track events and ice skating shows without problems. Yes, it is a heavy lens so at least a monopod is needed if you are not able to hold a heavy lens.

I live walking distance to Creve Coeur Camera. Between it an Schillers I have two very good stores with knowledgeable people. I give them both thumbs up and recommend them.

My daily use lens is the Tamron 18-270 (Canon 7D). Given the choices you specified, Tamron 18-300 should do the job nicely.

I have seen new Duracell batteries on the store shelf that have started leaking. Years ago I had Duracell leak inside a camera and damage the camera and Duracell stated that I was on my own. I use only Energizer, Rayovac or Sams Club Members Mark.

I keep on my 7D a Tamron 18-270. I have been to China several times with that lens and have never been disappointed by it.

Not all of my lenses are image stabilized. I took a tennis ball, cut it open, inserted a big spherical fishing weight, closed it up with a couple of washers, 1/4"-20 screw and a Teflon nut. I put this on my camera to hold it steady when shooting with the non-stabilized lens. It just uses Newton's First Law of motion. I will also use this when using my biggest lenses or my 2x. By using a 1/4"-20, it fastens into my tripod screw.

I feel that if the photo came out of the camera the way you wanted it, then PS work is not necessary.
