Sometimes you just get lucky by being in the right place at the right time. Captured this moose crossing a river with the Teton range in the background. Taken earlier this month.
Chimping becomes part of the norm when attemtping to capture fast action shots such as birds doing their thing. You never know how successful you were getting the split second movements until you review them in the LCD screen.
Just downloaded it. Should be up shortly.
The caption is probably the best part of this submission- ha!
I like the chicken accipiter.
After volunteering in an orphanage in Cusco, Peru my wife & I took an extra week to do some sightseeing. There are already several images of Machu Picchu, including some with fog, on the internet. So I won't post mine. Instead here is a photo I took on the way up. You can see the river below giving you a good height perception. Of course the unknown was, would Machu Picchu be visible at all once we got to the top? Fortunately the answer was yes. :)
Can't be answered objectively unless you've tried them all.
My wife & I spent some time in Peru volunteering at an orphanage. We happened to be in Cusco during one of their festivals. A few shots of some of the locals. Very intricate detail on their clothing.
Additional comment: My only frustration is that I did not get the background in focus.
Hoarfrost
The tail looks rounded rather than squared off at the end which indicates a Cooper's. Sharpies also have a V notch in the center of the tail feathers, evident when in flight. Also the legs and talons appear thicker than on a Sharp-shinned Hawk (thus the name). I think you are right on the approximate age based on eye color. Immatures have blue eyes that turn yellow on yearlings then orange and eventually blood red on the old haggards.
"Those who have ears, let them ..." I like how this looks in B&W.
A few days were spent in Door County, Wisconsin where my wife Nancy & I took our honeymoon back in 1980. We revisited to celebrate our 36th anniversary just recently. One evening provided ideal conditions for silhouette photography.
Awesome! Means I can sleep in an extra second this year.
The tan fur indicates this is a male. Females are grey.
Reminds me of something out of Disney's Fantasia Movie where the petals open and the sleeping fairies wake up. Excellent abstract photography!
