Thank you so much for your time to point all this out to me. It is a difficult task to get all the little markers correct.

Your are more than welcome! Like I said before I gave myself a headache trying to ID these guys. I could be wrong. Thanks again for your time in looking and for your comments.

More good news for you. This is one of those photos that will allow you to extend the canvas (in all directions). What this means is that when you finally pick the exposure you will be able to keep your 8x10 size and be able to place the bird anywhere within it. There are videos you can watch to see what I'm talking about. If you need it, I have a "Cheat sheet" for extending the canvas. Here is an example of what I'm talking about.

WOW! Kinda like the look of that one. Thank you for the offer of a cheat sheet. I do not have anything but the most basic, free online photo editing programs for now. I just may have to take you up on your offer when I can ever make up my mind on what PP program I want to get!
Thank you again!

 Excellent sharp series! Could you share what equipment you used for these?

Thank you so very much for your comments and taking the time to look! I shoot with a Canon 70D and these were all shot using my 100-400L IS.
Any more questions please ask!

Great shots. What equipment and settings?

Thank you very much!
I shoot with a Canon 70D and 100-400L. Most shots were taken in bright sun with a fill flash setting of +1/3 - +2. The +2 being when the sun went behind the clouds or if they were in the shade. Most shot at 250, f/8 and ISO of 200 and at 350mm. All shots were handheld and most photos cropped.
If you have anymore questions please ask.

These are great captures. I am confused on the names of a few. The first 2 have the same name but are different colors. If this a mistake or does this species come in several colors. Also the same with the Eastern Pondhawk was the second one misnamed should it be a Blue Dasher? I used to catch these with my Papa but could not name one today without looking them up so you did a great job finding their names.

Thank you so very much! Now I am by no means an expert when it comes to naming these dragonflies but I did find out that yes some species do come in different colors. Immature males may look totally different than an adult male. Some immature males may even resemble females except for some very slight differences. And in some species females look so totally different than males that someone would think they may be an entirely different species! So with that in mind I think the first pic you are referring to (#2) is more than likely an immature male or female Four Spotted Pennant. If you look closely, they kinda look like shadows, you can see the four spots on the wings.
As to the Ponhawks, this is one of those species where the male and female look so totally different that they may seem like two separate kinds. The males also look very similar to the mature Blue Dasher except for the size and the coloring on the end of their tails. The Pondhawk males have white tips on the very end of their tails and the Dashers have black on the tips of their tails. So pic #8 I believe to be a mature male Pondhawk while #7 is a female.
Now that I've said all that I may be completely wrong! I gave myself a headache trying to ID these guys.
Thanks for taking the time to look and comment!
