PP Wizards, I need some help please! I messed up......
Tsilva suggested that I post this here. So instead of re-typing it all I'll just post a link.
http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-309937-1.htmlAny help with this would be much appreciated! And as stated in the post I know it is a very bad photo and I'm not looking for NatGeo quality. I'm just looking for something that will look decent in an 8x10 for my scrap book.
Does this help a little? I used the Photoshop or Elements Shadow/highlight control to boost the shadows and then did a little sharpening
There appears to be a good bit of reds and yellows in the area where exposure was increased. Not sure how much is natural so I did not remove it.
What an amazing sight you captured! A bit sad, of course, but that is nature at its most real.
My versions:
You have several possible solutions here.
a 8*10 means you need to frame the bird correctly within this space, this is strictly a matter of taste.
You could also use a 1:1 crop ratio to get e 8*8 or 10*10. but there again the position of the bird will make or destroy the capture. The rotation of the bird (by 45 degree) will completely change the vision...
In term of colors you also need to be careful. As you can observe you have many options offered already. Your best bet is to give a feedback so that one can follow your idea(s) and produce something you can live with.
Head to the right or to the left, flying over (ordinary)...
Head to the top right, flying away (safe)...
Head to the bottom left, flying toward (a bit threatening)...

Placing the wing tips on a diagonale would seriously help the 1:1 composition.

I'm not one of the experts, just a learner, but I have some good PP software.
Here is a try.
Lots of good edits to choose from. This is my offering. I left the crop fairly loose so that you could choose your own fit if you chose to use this one.

And another one, not necessarily any better than any of the others.
WOW guys and gals! What a wonderful selection. It's going to be tough to choose between them! Each and every one of them has their own strong points. The differing takes on all of them sure showcase the varying artistic talents here!
Thank you all so much for taking the time and energy to help me with this! Your help and advice are very much appreciated!
I will be back with each of you personally when I get back. Limited on time for the moment but I didn't want you all to think I left.
Thank you again!
Laziest re-edit ever  . Rotated 90 deg. Flying up the diagonal seemed like a good alternative.

Thank you so very much for you differing ideas on how to crop this. Since this was not going into a "portfolio" but instead into a personal scrapbook (just so I could check this bird off my birding list) I was not really thinking about differing ways to crop. I do however really like your idea on the second crop. Turning the bird 45 dgs really does change the attitude of the photo!
Thank you very much for ideas and taking the time to respond. Very much appreciated.
