When I travel I carry a small computer and an identical pair of hard drives (most all are "Passports"). At the end of each day all pictures are downloaded twice (once on each hard drive). When we move from place she has one in her carry on and I have one in my carry on. India, Africa, Alaska, Galapagos etc., etc. or just visiting grand kids for the weekend, etc. we use the same system. Have not lost one picture (yet)! The small hard drives are worth the cost in my opinion.

Good luck!!

I prefer the Nikon 28 to 300 on my D850 for walking around.

Just spent three weeks in Alaska with a 500pf (and a 300pf) which I used on a D500 and a 28 to 300 mounted much of the time on a D850 plus a couple small primes.

The pf lenses are quite light and shorter than you would expect so relatively easy to hand hold and very sharp. Will work with tele-adapters too if you really want to stretch things out.

Would recommend either or both.

Suggest you look at National Geographic/Lindblad. Small ships (100) guests. 24/7 about nature. On Board trained photo instructor and Naturalist experts. We have done many of their trips like Galapagos, Amazon, Panama Canal--- always about seeing nature up close.
We are going on one of their Alaska trips in two weeks.
The other exciting news is that my camera shop called yesterday to tell me my Nikon 500pf lens finally shipped on Monday eight months after I ordered it and I will have it for the trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!

850 and 500, approx 4 lenses from longest to something for wide angle panoramas. Monopod, 2.0 and 1.4 tele-adapters. pick your times and places to change lenses away from dust. Many camps do not have power on all night so take lots of spare batteries and charge batteries starting as soon as you get in your room. I carry a small computer and two sets of external hard drives and I download EVERY picture EVERY night TWICE!! I carry one set of hard drives in my carry on and my wife carries the other set. If necessary create a written checklist of the things to do at the end of each day to care for your cameras, lenses and photos. Eventually it will become second nature. Start doing the downloading and charging EVEN BEFORE HEADING TO THE BAR OR TO DINNER. Never lost a picture in external hard drive storage or a shooting opportunity because I was out of card storage space or out of batteries! Be AHEAD OF THE GAME AND DEVELOP YOUR OWN ROUTINE. Same approach becomes second nature and works in Galapagos, Alaska, Amazon, Panama, Carib, etc. etc. Have fun, good shooting!

ALWAYS two for REDUNDANCY. Hhad a "camera out of the jeep event" in India but had second camera. Usually D850 and D500. May add z7 next trip to get to know it better plus to use new ultra wide angle lens if it is finally available by then.

The Panasonic zs70 is a great little camera. I mostly shoot big Nikons and still use my zs70 at events/parties, I use it when doing things with the grandkids, school events, concerts, plus as a backup. I most always have it with me because "stuff happens". can shoot fully automatic, fully manual or somewhere in between depending on circumstances. My wife has the previous model and two of our adult kids have the even earlier versions. All in use! Great camera!

You might want to check out "Nature Photographer" from Canada. Only three issues per year but stunning photos, great stories about the locations, etc. Not cheap but WOW! www.naturephotographermag.com
Most photos give basic metadata. Available on line or as a printed version (which I prefer) -- great photos for grand kids' projects after I'm done enjoying the photos and the tips.

That is cheaper but hand cut ones are unique! Hand cut ones are really collectible art and appreciate in value.
