When we moved to the Midwest from Northern California, my youngest child's bus driver asked her to sit with a girl who was developmentally disabled because, he said, she was the only kid on the entire 61 passenger bus whop treated the girl decently. The kids who apparently routinely taunted an abused this girl immediately started calling my child retarded.

She came home crying her first day in fourth grade. I called the principal the next morning and told him what was happening and to put a stop to it. He asked what kids were doing it, and I told him. He said he didn't think he could do much because of who these kids were. I told him that he had a choice. He handled it by 3:00, or I handled it the next day, and then he could spend the following six weeks trying to control the fallout from my handling it.

"Dee, what are you going to do?"

"I'm going to ride the bus."

"I don't think you can do that."

"I don't think you're big enough to stop me."

You'd be amazed what school people can do if they have the proper incentives.

Great capture on that one. I think he's looking for lunch.

Thanks and yes they are often looking for a nice meal!

Actually, "nice meal" is a relative term, since we both know gators love nutria LOL. For any who aren't familiar with nutria, they're a particularly obnoxious and bad tempered rat with huge bright orange front teeth that are quite capable, thank you very much, of relieving you of more than one finger. They grow to about 20 or so pounds, and were accidentally introduced to the swamps when some escaped from a fur farm. Personally, I cannot imagine that the fur could ever be cleaned well enough that the smell could ever be eliminated, but that's just me LOL.

Gator, you clearly have spent enough time with these remarkable giants to be able to correctly read their behavior, because your pictures are sheer genius and I'm guessing you haven't lost any limbs to them! Gators, much like sharks, are formidable reptiles with one thing on their mind....eating whatever cannot outrun them LOL. They are, when it's all said and done, ultimate predators and most people just don't have what it takes to get the kind of pics you do.

Try Recuva. I recovered over 7,000 pics with it when my Vaio decided to take a dump. And it's FREE!

Try playing some music while you're shooting. That seems to relax everyone LOL. I like all but the last. I think you missed your focus a bit in it.

My sister has, literally, thousands of the little devils at her house just outside New Orleans. One of her dogs loves to pounce on them and eat them, and drives her nuts off and on all night to go out so she can get more. I told her if mine did that we would be forced to have a good old fashioned Southern Come-to-Jesus meeting!

At my house, just two hours away, we have no cicadas, but there was a dragon fly this morning when I went out with my three that had a wingspread wider than the entire length of my hand and a body longer than the width of my hand. It scared the rap out of my 30 pound chihuahua X when it hit the outside of the fence right next to him. They're all over, again, literally hundreds of them in my yard (which is fine because they devour mosquitoes!)and they're all big enough to set off my driveway alarm when they fly past it LOL. That gets a bit annoying because it drives the dogs nuts, who in turn drive ME nuts (a short drive on the best of days!) but as long as thy continue to suck up the mosquitoes I can live with it.

You know what? I thought so too. However, Mitt and his henchmen disagree.

I do not, nor have I ever, worked for Planned Parenthood. I know how much they charge because three of my youngest's friends wanted birth control, and because their parents wouldn't take them, they asked me. I did, after making sure it was OK with the parents. I also paid for their birth control, because even though their parents knew they were taking it and said they didn't care, they refused to pay for it. If there's an agency where it can be gotten free, I sure as hell couldn't find it.
