I'm in Provincetown for the week photographing a painting workshop. I just happened to notice (after substantial Googling) that there is an authorized Apple reseller just 20 miles away. A 13" notebook would fit right into the compartment in my Lowepro messenger bag.

Last week, I got my wife an iMac to replace her aging Dell because I was sick of trying to solve the problems she was having with it. I thought that if I got a Macbook, I could learn how to use it and then show her how to use her machine.

I called this morning and just happened to vaguely refer to that idea, but she didn't seem to think it was necessary to buy another computer.

So, what might I say to her to help her to see what a brilliant idea it would be to get a MBP? I could just buy one and arrive home with it, but you know how that would go over.

If she does photogaphy work...Mac would be better...not sure why...but they seem to give a better color and resolution.

Discretion is the better part of valor! ;)

But then again....it's better to ask forgiveness than to ask permission!

Glad I could help! ;)

Consistency of programs and commands. You will be a much better help to her if you use the same systems. I also have a 13 and now wish it was larger as my eyes are not getting better. I find myself using a larger monitor but it's not portable.

Tell her you ran across a Big Bear on the way to P-town and insisted that you get her a Mac Book PRO like the one he has.
Who can argue with a Bear ??

Besides ... she will love the graphics.

Good idea - and I'd still have a Mac.

buy her a gift certificate for the same value as the Mac and that way she can pick out the one she wants like it was her idea

I usually just go ahead and buy and let the chips fall where they may. Of course, once I ask, then it's too late for independent thought.

It seems to me that you have two choices:

One, forget about the MacBook and never think of it again.

Two, go ahead and get it and put up with the grief.

:D

ps. I have a 13 inch MacBook Air. You'll love it.
