I did this in Elements 11... There is Elements 12 out now. Elements often goes on sale. I think I only paid $70. for it. I didn't bother with the video program as it was not important to me...it cost a lot more to get both. You can also edit in RAW. Anyway, there are lots of free programs out there, but I like Elements for working with layers, which I use for this type of work, even though I probably could have gotten away without it. But I always make a new layer when doing a new filter so I don't have to start from scratch if I goof up...which I do often! LOL! Every time I work with a new picture to make an abstract, I do something different with the filters and learn something new about each one. Anyway, before I got carried away, I just wanted to say that it just takes some practice and playing to get these results. Once you know the basics, you are off to the races with endless possibilities and nothing can stop you!

Thank you so much for your help.
Apart from a little bit of cropping occasionally I have never really done anything with my photos....everything is self -taught and trial and error.
That is why I really appreciate you taking the time to help

Well I got some of my work done this a.m. so a little time to play!
The original was taken last night at our club photo shoot. We were supposed to do macro or "as close as you can get". I gave my macro lens to my sister to try and I attached my extension tubes to my 18-250 Sigma lens. In the end it was too windy to do macro work and it rained off and on, so I didn't get much chance to play. But here is one of the original shot (cropped) and then I played with it ...can't remember all the things, but I did "invert" it and then the "stained glass" filter with "overlay" and then put it in the Nic "silver fox2" and came up with a b/w. Again, not spectacular, but a good exercise in seeing what I could come up with when the shooting wasn't good! :-)
Well I got some of my work done this a.m. so a lit... (show quote)

Wow! Wish I knew how to do things like that..........
Hopefully if I keep watching you guys, I might learn

Hello Everyone!!! This weeks challenge is The Best of Your Black and White. While the decision to choose black and white over color may be an easy choice, it can greatly alter the mood of a photo. Or, better yet, convey the feeling you were having while taking the photo. Or, maybe, the photo just looks better in black and white. Whatever the reason, have fun!! Looking forward to a great challenge! Here are a few to get us started!

Thanks for this challenge Vampyr

Here are a few shots taken at Cusworth Park, Doncaster England a 2 minute walk from where I live.
They were taken when the pond was starting to freeze over.
