Hello Everyone!!! This weeks challenge is The Best of Your Black and White. While the decision to choose black and white over color may be an easy choice, it can greatly alter the mood of a photo. Or, better yet, convey the feeling you were having while taking the photo. Or, maybe, the photo just looks better in black and white. Whatever the reason, have fun!! Looking forward to a great challenge! Here are a few to get us started!

Off and running Vampyr. I really like the old peeling staircase. Wonder what secrets they might hold. Thanks for hosting and getting another challenge up and running.

Love the staircase, all the textures show better because of B&W!

Baldknobber Culture..... Love that area, especially Lambert's Throwed Rolls and the Lake City (?) Crafts Shop.

Hello vampyr69, can you be objective, sir? And would you agree that a photograph is a record of what was seen and captured by the camera? If so, before there was colour film, all black and white shots were photographs, right? Then when colour film or current media became the technology, black and white are no long a record of what the camera saw, right?

Ok, that's my outlook. Black and white images are only images, not photographs. Objectively, I say, that is the only answer.

Anyway, everyone who doesn't care re. images vs. photographs will have fun. I just wanted to submit a truly object statement of fact.

:)

At least you're careful not to claim that colour doesn't matter, as some seem to ------ think of the bird hatchlings with their varied colourings, the fawn camouflage, the little rabbit camouflage. In nature colour is vital. :!:

Looks like I should have given 'kitten' as an example of where colour matters, too. ;)

Hi jacklpine, you say ' Black and white are no longer a record of what the camera saw' The camera did not change it was the film that changed

The camera has the ability to see in color or black and white

Photograph means drawing with light, loosely speaking

And a photograph is an image created by light falling on a light sensitive surface, sensor or film

All photographs are images but not all images are photographs
