These are some of the birds I have photographed around my home in central Florida
I have been very fortunate enough to have a wide varity of birds right out my back door. This gives me a chance to practice with my camera while sipping on a cup of coffee and see if I can take a better picture by correcting mistakes and not having to travel around during the hot months of summer to some local water parks. I'll save the traveling for early fall when it cools down. There are an abundance of birds moving through the area during early fall and it is much more enjoyable to be out during that time. I have been shooting with a Canon 80d and a 100-400 EF 4.5-5.6
lens and it has performed very well for me. I have been using this setup for about 2 years now and I'm still looking for that great picture or talking about the one that got away from me.
Thank you very much I had a fun time trying to hit a moving target. This pair of bluebirds have really done a good job of trying to run everything off that came close to the nest, including me. I placed the meal worms right next to the nest box and they protected them with a vengance and it worked really well even the Mocking Bird wouldn't get near the mealworms.
Had 5 Bluebirds leave the nest this morning. Could not believe that 5 were stacked up in the nest box but one by one they left and landed in a nearby tree. It was enjoyable watching the male and female feed them then call to them over and over, I guess enticing them to leave the nesting box. One would leave and then another head would appear at the hole for 4 minutes or so, have a bite to eat and leave.

I have had a similar problem with Mocking birds but I placed the mealworms in a cup really close to their nest and they go after anyone including me if I get to close in around the nest. Squirrels, Mocking birds and any other animal that looks like they are going for the mealworms or are in the vicinity of the nest are run off. I placed another dish away from the nest area just to give the Mocking bird a few mealworms.
Set up a Bluebird nest this year and they took to it really quick. They are now nesting along with a healthy serving of live mealworms everyday,it appears they are happy. Live mealworms are the trick to bringing meat eating birds to the dinner table. I have a mockingbird that will almost take the worm out of my hand, he shows up everyday. Male Bluebird personally feeds female a worm or two after she has gottn her fill from the worm feeder.
Thank you having fun trying to capture a great picture.
I am kind of new to photography still learning and missing those great shots that got away. Taking quality pictures and reproducing them is a lot harder than I thought it would be after one and a half years and thousands of pictures I am still tweaking dials and turning knobs chasing the photographers elusive keeper picture.
I am lucky I got this close. I have seen them many times sitting on power lines looking for food or in a tree but if they see you get close to them they are gone. I know they are very fast when they attack their prey, this one went down inside the tree branches while I was watching him and came back out with a moth in a heart beat. Amazed me how far into the tree branches he went to retrive it.
Some photo's I have taken while at the different parks in my area.
I have had an abundance of Cardinals here lately and enjoyed taking pictures of them. With the weather starting to cool down some what I am starting to see more of a variety of birds in my back yard here in Florida.
