Your "Wingpilot" handle and that you live in Alaska suggest you might also have airplanes in your lifestyle. True?

Helicopter pilot, actually, but also have an airplane single engine land and sea rating, and commercial license. I flew helicopters in Vietnam.

Here’s what we rode. Not taken with a cellphone. Nikon D90, (don’t mean to hijack your threat) at Galena Summit. I’m not sure I had an iPhone back then. The red one is my wife’s and the yellow one is mine. We hung up our helmets a few years ago after moving back to Alaska. It was boring after all the great riding we did in the Pacific Northwest. Idaho was great and we miss it. The Treasure Valley has sure grown since we left.

Nice work with the AI. We lived in Meridian for 10 years but returned to Alaska in 2012. We loved the riding there and all over the PNW. Your shot of the bike and rider on the side of the road looks like some of the pullouts on Hwy 21.

Thanks for showing your work. Our cellphones may not be the latest $6K full frame camera, but they do a great job. No brand or model is better than another, they’re all pretty darned good.

By the way, Maggie May is a good looking dog.

We share the joy of the RX100 VII. How does Sony get all that greatness into such a small package?

I don’t know, but they did. When it first came out I read one pro review agency that claimed it was a Sony A9 in a small body. Pretty close analysis. Since the R100 VII came out they haven’t offered a VIII model. I guess it’s hard to make something that good, better.

If sensor size isn’t an issue for you and you don’t plan on making 20x30 prints, consider the Sony HX-99. It’s relatively affordable and zooms to a 35mm eq. of 720mm. It’s small and fits in a shirt pocket or small belt pouch. A Panasonic equivalent is the Lumix ZS-70 or 80. It has pretty much the same parameters as the Sony and costs about the same. I have the Sony RX100 VII, which I love, but it is expensive. None of these should ruffle the cat show’s feathers.

I think you’ve got a pretty good grasp on how to use your iPhone 15 Pro Max. Those are good photos, well-composed, sharp, with good color. I liked those colorful manhole covers, and that tobacco sign is just plain cool. Thanks for sharing.

Great series. Your iPhone 15 Pro Max did a great job with those close ups. Lots of sharp details and great color. Thanks for sharing. Keep ‘em coming. This is a great forum for sharing smartphone photos.

Too bad about the clouds. I think a lot of folks were disappointed that way. Interesting app, though.

Number 3 is interesting but I prefer #2. And yes, leave the grass in. It adds an item of interest, making it a unique image.

Thanks, Greg. As flowers go, it’s not the most beautiful or shapely, but it definitely has character!

Something about black and white that renders a subject like this beautiful in a way that a color image just can’t. Character it has, for sure. It’s a very nice photo, a wall hanger for sure.

That’s different, and very nice. I like what the B&W rendition does to the flower. Thanks for sharing.
