here is a great rationalization for Gas with no guilt. I am buying this to help the Japanese economy!!! That's my story and am sticking to it.
That's a new slant to the term. OOPS, sorry, not PC. Really meant in jest. (But then I don't believe in political correctness anyway). Unless it is meant in anger or to be nasty it don't count. I grew up in NY in the 50's and 60's and we had names for everybody and everything and nothing bad was meant by it. Oh, the good old days. I am an old dog and I have no intention of learning new tricks.

Gear Aquisition Syndrome. A condition in which the victim, "patient" finds it difficult to resist obtaining, at any cost, the latest and greatest items in interests that he (she) might have. In addition to photography equipment, other areas might include firearms, computers, motor vehicles, etc. As another UHH member just noted - RIF - Resistance Is Futile. Don't fight it. Give in. You will be moe at peace with your inner self.

You could have put those $300 towards a nice trip with many promising photo opportunities. Perhaps it would be wise to opt out of emails from Canon from now on, to avoid being lured by anymore of their "one day only" camera sales.
Luckily I have the funds that I can do what I want when I want to do it. Believe me, if I did not have a use for the camera I would not have gotten it. In this case it is part of my duplicating systems at my two homes so I do not have to cart a lot of gear with me when I travel from place to place.

Your point? :?: :-D
We like our gear and we like to buy it and use it. New term GAS RIF was fantastic
I got an email this morning from Canon USA about a one day deal on SL-1 kit. $300 for a refurb SL-1, 18-55 STM and 75-300 lenses. Like I need another camera. But, the price was too good to pass up. Deal was only good today and tomorrow. I have an SL-1 and have bought others for my other kids. Adorama has the same on sale, but new, for $999 after rebates.
What's film?
Just kidding :-)
Now boys, be nice. With MT Shooters reputation here I am sure this is a very fair price for what you will get. Too bad I don't need another 70-200 2.8, I would consider getting it.
I have the 7D, 6D and 5DmkIII. I bought the 5D refurbished from Canon earlier this year for $2199. I recently saw it for $2099. It is a great camera and blows the other two away in all respects. I just had it in Iceland and the pics were excellent. I got lots of aurora pics that would not have been possible with the other two. If you find my profile you can see a couple of them. If you can afford the 5D by all means get it. You won'the regret it.

I am travelling to Iceland in February. I have a Canon 7D Mk2. Any suggestions about the bet lenses to take? Thank you for your help :?: :?:
I just got back from Iceland. I just used two lenses over there. On my 5Dmklll I used the 24-105 L and on my SL-1 I used the Tamron 16-300 f 3.5-6.3. They did everything I wanted and needed.
[quote=zuzanne]I am curious about the Canon T5 and the Canon Sl1. The market seems to be flooded with these 2 models. The prices are about the same, my trusty T3i is discontinued by Canon and yet it still costs more than these newer models. Are these 2 cameras not very good?
As you can see by my profile I own a good number of cameras. With that said, I love my SL-1. It is my go to camera. I have it in a case that whenever I am traveling by air or just a quick trip where I don't want to be carrying a lot of cameras or heavy equipment that is the camera I take. It is small, light, and very effective for everything that I want to do. In fact, there is probably not anything I do not like about it. I highly recommend it. That being said, when I am taking a longer trip by car I usually will pack my 5D, 7D, and the SL-1 and depending on what I want to shoot, that will be the camera I use.

Even if you don't use the word you still might enjoy this comedy bit.

The "perfect word" that has no meaning in a sentence?
I agree, but, it can be used as those parts of speech regardless of appropriateness.
George Carlin said it all in his monologue "The Seven Words You Can Never Say On TV."
Speaking of that, where did the name Ugly Hedgehog come from?
