Make sure that the monopod you get extends far enough so that your camera can be at eye level. I am 6’1” and find that some mono pods are not tall enough to work well for me. I have a Poloroid brand monopod from B&H that works well. I prefer to use it with no head attached at all.

I love this shot. If it were not for the modern rod and reel we might think you got a shot of Tom Sawyer or Huck Finn. Well done.

I do use the focus conformation dot on my Nikon D800e. Can I benefit by using Auto Focus Fine Tune on my manual focus lenses?

I am slightly confused by this question. By definition when using a manual focus lens you are not able to use the auto focus function of the camera but must focus the lens yourself thru the use of your fingers on the lens focus ring. How can a fine tuning of a system you are NOT using be of any use or benifit? What am I missing here?

Paulie Yes the prices here seem higher. The UK price in £ Sterling seems much the same as the US price in Dollars. The exchange rate reflects the price difference. A few years ago that difference seemed to have pretty much disappeared but it seems to have come back now.

The prices in the UK ARE higher due primarily to the VAT (value added tax) rate of 20% that is included in the price of most everything sold there.

Just south of Presidio, TX, the Rio Grande to the right... no subject? Well... at the time, the pavement itself was the subject.

I understand the beauty of a good riding road. Well taken. Weather here in Utah was in the 50s on Thursday, so I got the bike out and did 100 miles. Last night we got 4 inches of snow, so the bike is back to hibernation mode in the garage.

Yes--probably my favorite. Oddly enough, it's not the favorite in Germany where it originated--the favorite there is (or was) "Vom Himmel Hoch".

Though written in the German language, Silent night originated in Austria, which is a different country from Germany (inspite of Hitler's attempt to change that arrangement)

Have you been up to Squaw Peak Road?
Just as you start your ride up the canyon from Provo it's on the right. There's a brown sign that says "Squaw Peak Road".
There's a big parking lot on the left. It's so beautiful.

You bet. One of my favorite drives. Thanks for looking.

I really like the photo. Beautiful children and a nice idea for a group photo. The safety part of my brain can't help noticing that the ladder is not fully open and the support braces are not locked into position. A precarious situation with so many cute grandkids on the ladder.
