Hey Frank. Thanks for the post. I have turned ON airplane mode. Still trying to be sure I have every battery draining item turned off. Think I have them but will keep viewing youtube for something I may be missing. Man I love this camera.

Oops. Glad you caught my mistake there. Yes, airplane mode on, wifi & Bluetooth off.
I easily get over 1000 photos to a battery charge.

Not sure if it would work, but would a flash have 'frozen' the people on the ride? I saw a picture of a kingfisher diving into thenwater where the photographer kept the birds trail blurred while freezing the bird itself using this technique...

Those little speedlights will surprise us sometimes. With a shutter speed of somewhere around 1/4 of a second to 1.6 sec and Nikon D700 set to rear curtain sync (2nd curtain sync) and a SB900 speedlight you can capture the motion of the ride and freeze the riders at the end of the exposure. All done in a single exposure. The first three photos were done this way.

The fourth photo was done with two exposures (one with flash and one without) then blended in postprocessing.

Hope this helps.

Is that through glass? Either way, I’m impressed.

Yes, that was taken through glass. Thanks for asking.

I would be interested to know what kind of camera and lens you used.

Sabfish, the camera was a Nikon D500 and the lens was a Nikon AF-S 200-500mm f/5.6.

Stunning, but next time how about a little larger capture.

Here's the same owl on the same day, with a bit more of the overall owl in sight. Hope the is what you were referring to. https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-577075-1.html

With the aid of a long lens, a crop sensor body & a bit of pp cropping we get a portrait of the Great Gray Owl here in southwestern Idaho.

Another rather uncommon sighting of a Great Gray Owl here in southwestern Idaho. With the rather warm winter we've been experiencing this year I'm surprised to see this bird down this far south.

Please share equipment and settings.

Was using the Nikon D500 with the Nikon AF-S 70-200mm f/4 lens.

1.) 1/2500, f/4.0, ISO 200
2.) 1/8000, f/4.0, ISO 200
3.) 1/1600, f/4.0, ISO 200

Additional cropping in post.
