We were at Port Aransas, Texas last week 8 Dec. The Whoopers usually fly in late November/early December and stay until March/April. We saw 12 between Port Aransas and Lamar Texas. Lamar has a couple of places designated as refuges. 30 miles East of Port Aransas is the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge with many different birds, spoonbills, cranes, ducks, gators, etc. When there, Lamar is the easiest place to see them. Port Aransas also host the Whooping Crane Festival in late February. Hope this helps.
