A few days ago I updated my Sony 100-400 GM lens from version 1 to 6. I can't tell if it performs any different, and it's certainly not worse, but the programable buttons don't function and are no longer shown in the menu.

I don't normally use them so they won't be missed, but I am curious, has anyone else experienced this bug.

Sounds like there is a problem somewhere that you have not discovered yet. You may want to see a Sony rep somewhere to get the update fixed.

I want to move up from my Nikon d850 to mirrowless camera . I video ballroom dancers and still shot them witch camera is better ? Also, looks like the Sony 2470 2.8 GM is a lot sharper then Nikon 24702.8 S lens is according to dxo mark . What do you say ? ThankYou !

Nikon fans will say Nikon and Sony fans will say Sony. I am a Sony fan, but I realize that I am biased. You have to hold each camera in your hand and play with it a little bit. Then read up what the experts say, and see if it applies to the work you are doing. The only thing I can add is that Sony has a great big leap in cinematic enterprise, and also Zeiss just introduced a new line of lenses made for Sony's E mount that are specifically for cinematography.

Here is the opening salvo. Prior to that, no one had "jumped on" on the OP or anyone else.

You are playing the victim when you are actually the instigator.

You are wrong. Look at the posts, starting with UserID.

Whoosh!

Threatened by inadequacy? Are you serious? People are not threatened, they are annoyed by the brand pimping. Now, as one guilty of doing that, it seems clear that you are projecting when you say that others are feeling inadequate. For you the line between brand loyalty and personal identity pretty blurred. That does not mean that it is true for the rest of us.

I did not do pimping, but I will protect the honor of someone who is stating a fact, and gets jumped on because of it. I shoot several brands, each has its benefits, and that is what the OP was stating for sports photography. You have the usual jerks who really did not have to post, but did. Each to their own, but the "who cares" attitude is for losers!

Personal identity is multifaceted and unique to each individual. On average, participants selected 16 areas that they found important in defining their sense of self. Among the most common sources of identity were family, mental abilities, friends, physical appearance, and physical abilities.

While brand relationships aren’t necessarily the most important way to define oneself, just over half (56%) of participants say that the brands they use or associate with are important in defining how they see themselves. Additionally, brands serve as a way to enhance more important aspects of their identity such as family relationships or friendships.

Fifty-five percent of participants also agree that the brands they see others using say something about who those people are.

Well said. But the sad part is that a factual post turns into a pissing contest with these morons who are threatened by inadequacy, when no one is putting their choice or their work down. It shows that they got shorted in the member arena!
