I want to move up from my Nikon d850 to mirrowless camera . I video ballroom dancers and still shot them witch camera is better ? Also, looks like the Sony 2470 2.8 GM is a lot sharper then Nikon 24702.8 S lens is according to dxo mark . What do you say ? ThankYou !

Sony made great video cameras and for a long time. I may be wrong but Nikon did make some movies camera that shoots film but never video only camera.
I am a nikon fan by the way.

Nikon fans will say Nikon and Sony fans will say Sony. I am a Sony fan, but I realize that I am biased. You have to hold each camera in your hand and play with it a little bit. Then read up what the experts say, and see if it applies to the work you are doing. The only thing I can add is that Sony has a great big leap in cinematic enterprise, and also Zeiss just introduced a new line of lenses made for Sony's E mount that are specifically for cinematography.

When in doubt, try renting a copy of each and see what works for YOU. I use Lensrentals when I need to make a decision on a major purchase.

If those 2 lenses are central to your decision, I suggest you get serious and look beyond DXO.

Here is a highly reputable and reliable test site with links to each of those lenses.

https://www.ephotozine.com/article/nikon-nikkor-z-24-70mm-f-2-8-s-pro-review-33585/performance

Note: although the tests were run using different cameras, duh, they have the same resolution sensors.

As the other guy said…depends on what the commenter uses. In reality…either is fine and neither the A1 or the %i/9 are better although depending on the length of your shot the Z8 has a shorter max video length. You need to see which one feels better in your hand…and remember that since you’re currently using either Niko…there will be a significant control learning and menu understanding curve to get over. If you switch brands. There’s a learning curve from Nikon F to Nikon Z as well…but it’s a lot less to relearn both menu wise and muscle memory wise.

Unless you’re shooting professional going to the big screen video…any differences in the lenses are irrelevant to the decision…although potentially if you’re shooting in 8K there *might be a slight difference…not better or worse, just different. But in 4K…no real difference in output.

I ignored dxo and went with the 28-75/2.8, which is incredibly lightweight for its specs.

Pretty sure Nikon film cine cameras were a case of badge enginering, plus inclusion of a (supposedly) Nikon lens.

I wouldnt just assume the camera is handheld as the OP seems rather serious about video.

If the D850 take length limit has not been a problem, then max take length is not likely an issue. If OP would like to do long continuous takes, way beyond his current limits, then he might do well to consider a camera with a fan.

No I think the R8 and R10 super 8 cameras were made by Nikon.

Being that Sony has several camera's that are super great for just Video, and they have been producing these camera's for years before Nikon produced a mirrorless camera, I am going to go way out on a limb here and say Sony might produce better videos.
But most amateurs will NOT be able to tell the difference between the two for most applications.
So, I would say for most folks both will produce very nice video's.

If you want to upgrade because you are going all in on video (where the market is these days)...
I would suggest buying a dedicated video setup...not a hybrid camera.

If good video is your goal, don't limit yourself to only two choices.
