I think we need to be careful that what we print on this site is fact, not some rumor we might have heard. I own 3 Nikon Camera's I bought Grey. They all have the same firmware as any Nikon purchased in the USA. I can, and have, downloaded all firmware updates with no problems directly from the Nikon Website. I saved approx. 28% on each purchase. They all have Serial Numbers.
Most warranty companies will tell you, if you do some research on their websites, that new cameras have less than a 2% rate of return for covered warranty repairs in the first year. That is all major brands.
It would be interesting to hear from some other members that have bought Grey. Would love to know their experiences and it would give some balance to this subject that seems to appear all too often in threads that were started asking about something that had nothing to do with Grey Market cameras in the first place.
I have been told both B & H and Adorama sell Grey Market cameras?? Is that correct?? And if it is, and they do sell them, and Grey Market is so bad, why would those two great camera stores sell Grey???
Love it!! A photographer can do so much using shadows.
Hey Tay. Can you give us a price range you would be comfortable spending on a new camera??
And, are you okay rethinking your camera with 2 lens idea and moving to a Bridge Camera as your main camera?? As I aged (I am 86) I found that it was just too much effort to lug around an assortment of lens when I traveled. Made what was a hard choice at that time, and have not looked back. Think about it.
Only you knows what is best for you. Well done.
Robert! you are only here once!! For a short time, compared to eternity! If you want it, and can afford it, enjoy it!!
Glad you are happy with your new purchase. I got mine some time ago and have been really pleased with my results.
When it comes to cameras, if you are happy that is all that matters!! Enjoy your P-950 in good health!!
It is good to see Nikon moving so quickly to remedy this problem. Enjoy your new camera, Jerry!!
Hey Voss. Great pics. Can I ask what city this was taken in?
The Recommended Sony Camera is a wonderful camera. But you may have to remortgage your home to buy it! Take a look at the Nikon P-950 which will cost you about 1/2 the cost of the Sony and weighs 2.07 lbs to the Sony's 2.0 lbs., a very little weight difference, and will give you a 83x lens range compared to the 25x of the Sony. Do not underestimate lens reach when you are taking what may be a once in a lifetime trip.
Just a thought?!
Good luck with your final choice and have a Great, Safe Trip!
Maybe the true art of a Professional is to be able to laugh at himself.
Ha Ha, Jerry!
You are so like a Kid in a Candy Shop!!
Guess that's why we love ya!
Hey Basil, welcome to the "I'm a photographer but I am also a Human" category of this site. We have all been "human" once in a while when using our new cameras. Maybe we should start a new thread on this site? We could call it The Once Burned, Twice Learned thread.
You are a brave man for posting your own error!! Enjoy your new camera in Good Health!!!
I have two of the ZS series and one FZ and they have all been good cameras.
I assume you have already checked your Flash Settings? The next thing I would try if I were you would be a total Camera Reset. Be sure to let us know when you finally solve the problem.
