Starting with the expense of the gear (Nikon D850 & Sigma 600 C) and many hours of reading tutorials and watching videos for settings...I had just switched from editing with PicMonkey to Lightroom...Sally and I didn't know what these Red Shouldered Hawks were up to and image #1 was as close as we could approach because there was a canal between us and them. image # 2 was the result of my editing in LR. Image #3 is after editing with Luminar 4. I definitely do not think that the final result is a wall hanger but.....I welcome all comments

Thanks for sharing this beautiful photograph. I would hang it on my wall. If you like it, do what you want. I've learned beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I am looking for what some of you think are special places to photograph in any parts of North Carolina, anything you believe is beautiful, unusual, or takes you back to the good old days. Thanks tkgraves

Just walk outside and lookl around! It is beautiful from the mountains to the coast. Guess you figured out I'm a native but now live in SC.

Try outside the Western Gate. We stayed there and the prices were very reasonable as well as good places to eat. Early in the morning traffic going from the Western gate was light and lots of animals along the way. By the time you see things on the way in everyone else is leaving the center of everything and going out in the park. Most people think they will not see/enjoy anything unless they stay in the heart of Yellowstone where it is usually very crowded. It is much more fun if you can get away from the "herds" of people and be where it is quiet.

Are you referring to a VCR? I guess a VCR could be considered a "special device" anymore.

Linda, go to the Channelmaster website. They have Digital VCRs that will connect to your antenna or whatever source and record regular TV. In fact, it has it own channel guide and adds channels itself. This enables me to watch my TV while recording another local channel at the same time. Often (as in last night) we record shows when we're not going to be home and watch them later, or if we're getting sleepy, we just turn on the recorder and finish watching the next day.

Been paying $180/month for a long time now. Want to get off this expensive form of entertainment.

Would like to know if any of you people know how I can use just my internet to get most if not all my major networks like ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox etc over the internet? I also enjoy sports from Fox, ESPN, etc.... Would also like to know if anyone knows how to maybe use a dedicated PC as a DVR so that I can pre-record my favorites and watch later etc.... So even if I have to pay $10-$20 a month for some different streaming services, that's ok as long as I can do a lot better than what I'm doing now.

Anyone???

It depends a lot on where you live. I have the frontend of an old VHF/UHF antenna with a signal amplifier and with my rotor I get 68 channels on bad days and more on good days. Now that almost every channel has various "side" channels the sky is the limit. If you live in an area that has Charter you might check with them. Last year they had 20 channels for $19.99 which includes all the locals and regular ESPN and several other cable channels. You can get a lot for a little with some checking around.

Thanks for the memories. You brought back some wonderful memories of our trip there approx 20yrs ago. I didn't see any donkeys in Mijas. Do they still use them as taxis? You even had our same menu for dinner. LOL Thanks again for the beautiful photos and memories.

Beautiful! Spent two weeks right there several years ago and still think of it almost every day. Thanks for the memory.

That's a good idea, but where do I put the OTHER 300 stickies? My screen is already too small. LOL

We've been going since 1985. The only time to go is in the off season. From now until Oct there will be people everywhere and the temp & humidity will be out of sight. We determined when our son graduated HS and on to the Air Force Academy that summer is off limits. We've spent 15 or so Christmases there. It is usually pretty nice then, temps in 40s & 50s with not many beach bums. Grande Ocean is our home but we've stayed at most of the other Marriotts at least once. The Monarch in Sea Pines is one of our favorites. Usually quieter, fewer children, and right on the ocean.

I have a Google Pixel2 and the camera is great, especially the "night sight" mode.

Thanks for sharing your photos of our state. Glad you had a good visit. We go to this area often and stop by the church for a visit. Hope you got some wildlife photos while you were there, too.

The lost river, lost city area is a great place. The George Washington National Forest is there and offers lots of opportunities. Lots of birds and animals in late afternoons. Large farms, barns, and just plain Americana. People are very friendly and helpful. Drive from Moorefield to Wardensville is beautiful. Take a few "back" road tours and there's a surprise around every corner. You will have more photo opportunities than you will time. Have fun. By the way, I'm not a resident of WV. My son has a cabin on top of a mountain in Lost River.

Jarvis Park is about 1/2 mi on the right as you cross the bridge on to the island. Lots of people use the walking track so the wildlife is used to having humans in close proximity. There's another place down beyond the maintenance building (at Sea Pines) that you drive through. There are lots of places to stop and take photos. I would say the round trip is approx a mile. There may be mammals, ducks, birds and a few other species. Management where you are staying should be able to give you directions. Very isolated except for people bird watching or fishing. You could end up being the only person there. Very quiet. Hope you have a great time and I look forward to seeing some of your photos.
