I called Sony Tech Support re. wireless transfer of images from my 𝛼6400 (firmware v. 2.0) to my iMac. (MacOS v11.6.2). The tech told me that the capability was no longer available with "Play Memories" software. To transfer images, it's best to remove the storage card and insert it in the SD slot of the iMac (or use use an SD to USB adapter) and click-drag the image files to a folder.

That's the way I do a click-drag since click-hold could not be assigned to the upper-left button but it can be sort of a chore for detailed work or when dragging across a 27 inch screen.

I have used a Kensington Expert Mouse for many years and certainly prefer it over a mouse. It has a large track ball and 4 programmable buttons plus a scroll wheel around the track ball. My only problem with it came a year or so ago, when I upgraded my MacOS to Big Sur (vers. 11.6) on my iMac. The problem was that before the upgrade, I could program the top-left button in the Kensingtonworks settings to operate as "Click and Hold". This option is no longer is available in Kensingtonworks. The option made click-and-drag very easy. Has anyone addressed this problem?

I use Lightroom Classic (vers 11.0.1 [202111111509-eae8952e]- the latest) on an iMac with MacOS vers 11.6 (Big Sur) and yesterday, all of a sudden, LRC would not launch. When I try to launch it in the usual way(s)- from the MacOS Dock, from the Apps folder, or even from its current catalog file, I get the same result: I see the LRC menu bar for an instant and then it quits. I even attempted to launch from within the Adobe Creative Cloud app and would get the same result.
I started a chat with Adobe help- they took over control of my iMac for over an hour. They explored, made changes, we did several restarts but all the time- the same result: LRC would not launch.
The Adobe agent noticed that I used Dropbox and claimed that the problem might be one of "Permissions" for access to the Pictures folder of MacOS within Dropbox and said I should contact Apple support to resolve the "Permissions" issue. I have used LRC and DropBox for some time, no problem; now this. Here is a transcript from their follow-up e-mail:

"Thank you for contacting Adobe Customer Care. Our conversation ended before we were able to reach a resolution. We are following up to let you know we left your case open.

As discussed it might be permission issue as Pictures folder is required by Lightroom Classic to save all its custom and default settings .So its not recommended to be saved under dropbox( network drive) as its not reliable it may work and may gives trouble .

Also we need to give permission of Read and Write to system Library and Pictures folder. so would suggest to contact apple support to have proper way to remove pictures folder along with it settings and folder outside the dropbox and to have permissions to the system Library as well.

After giving permissions to both the above mentioned folder you need to uninstall Lightroom Classic and then you need to run the cleaner tool from the link below ....".

Then it gets a bit complex. He goes on to say in his e-mail:

"If that doesnt work we need to check in root user as well, as we got disconnected while login to root user here is the link below for your reference through which you can try to enable and login to root user :-
https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT204012
after login to root user all you need to do is to launch Creative cloud app and launch Lightroom Classic within creative cloud app in the root user and check if that works.
Below s a self help article which might also be helpful in the root user account if yo uare unable to launch within Root user as well:-
https://helpx.adobe.com/in/lightroom-classic/kb/lightroom-not-launching-after-splash-screen.html ".

So my questions to the UHH community are: Has anyone encountered this problem? Did they get it resolved? If so, how."
I appreciate any suggestions.

It seems that battery chamber doors are not an uncommon problem with flash units. I thank all responders: many worthwhile suggestions. I checked the tabs/springs at the base of both the Canon 420ex and Sunpak units. All are clean and "springy" and there are no signs of battery residue (I only use Duracell). There are no signs that the engagement tabs of the battery well doors are missing or damaged. The battery well doors just won't stay closed when the batteries are inserted. It is possible that the door catches will engage and hold the door in place if the batteries were just 1 mm shorter but I think the easiest solution for me, even though I don't sport a pony tail, is to use elastic, cloth covered pony tail hair retainers for the purpose. Again, many thanx to all you Hogs for the ideas.

Thanx for the quick reply. I've still no luck with those battery covers. Tape may be the only solution.

I have two old flash units: Canon 420EX and Sunpak auto433AF Thyristor for Canon. I have not used them for a long time but find now that they both have the same problem: I can snap-close the battery chamber doors for each if there are no batteries in the chamber. But if I place batteries in the chamber (4xAA's), the chamber door will not close and stay shut. I can hold the door closed and the flash will fire when triggered but the door on each unit will not stay closed on its own. I'd appreciate any ideas on how to fix this other than taping the doors closed.

I was using a Seagate new 5TB ext HD. It asked for password protection, and I didn't realize I didn't need one. So I entered a password. Password worked fine

Then I migrated some info from my MacBook. Now I get message when trying open the HD that the password is incorrect. Keychain still shows the password as the one I originally set.

Any ideas on how to open?

I tried contacting Seagate for help. All the info I get is how to change the password for my account, not the ext HD.

Much advance thanks.

What do you think the odds are for this to take place.?
International travel is so touch and go.
I'm packed and ready to go.

Check when the rainy season is in Costa Rica. This may effect what gear you pack.

Wow what a great collection. The stories behind the photos are just as impressive as the photos.

Their work makes me envious. It shows that there's more to photography than just mechanics; there is patience, there is timing, there is art.
