I just purchased a D7000 and am delighted. A D7000 or D7100 just might be right up your ally!

Wow Mike! 11 kids? Do you know what caused it? :) jk
Bless you sir for taking in another animal!
I feel bad for dumped animals, still better dumped than taken to a shelter. The shelters are already over crowded and owner surrenders are usually put down if not adopted within 24 hours. Maybe they stand a better chance just dropped off. Very sad but true.

I started with a Brownie Starmite to record the passing of time, changing of the seasons, the beauty of the earth and such.
Went to a Nikon FG, then to a Nikon F body and now a Nikon D7000.

Nice camera...but those guitars WOW. Those are some high dollar ones. Last time I looked at a Les Paul out of curiosity I checked the price tag. It said $3500.00 and I was told it was one of the cheaper ones. The Fender Deluxe Reverb is a highly sought amp, one must have a few bucks to own one. Cool stuff...enjoyed your photos.

Thanks James, I bought the DR in 1975 used for about $150. The guitars came in less expensive deals over the years. I never pay retail for a guitar or amp. :)

Moon... You do realize that there will be no answer to your query..... right...

Mike, I do realize that. So far I have only heard plans to disarm law abiding citizens but never a plan to disarm criminals.
This subject keeps coming up on other forums and I'm just expressing my opinion.
If some else is anti-guns, fine. Last I heard, everyone is entitled to an opinion. I've just grown tired of this endless debate.

Thanks Mike

When I was a kid in the sixties, we played army and cowboys and indians. Now I have real guns. None of them have ever killed anyone.
So before we start this tired old debate, someone please outline their plan to disarm the criminals in this country.

End rant here.

In Canon's current lens lineup, I like the EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM. about $495
I use a Canon 24-105mm f3.5-5.6
Not much good for low light, but great for daytime shots.

EF 50mm f/1.4 USM for low light, $399
Maybe take a look at Tameron or Sigma lenses too

whatever you do, keep in mind that the lenses are what make your pictures, far more so than the camera body. Many folks buy an $$ body and then go buy cheap 3rd party lenses to go on it. I would prefer the best lens with a lower cost body, instead of the opposite. Look at some of the great photographs made by Henri Cartier-Bresson, Ansel Adams and other Masters. They all used equipment that people today would tell you is obsolete and that you have to have something better to do great pix. Nonsense....many folks are simply equipment snobs...
whatever you do, keep in mind that the lenses are ... (show quote)

I don't worry too much about gear. I've known for years and years that it's not the gun, it's the gunner. The D7000 is what I could afford, so that's what I purchased.

Why do you want to update? If your present camera does not do want you want it to, then start looking. Both cameras are the best out there. If your present lenses will work on a newer body, then stick with Canon. Why buy new lenses, depending upon what you have now. Read up on what is available. It all depends upon you, how serious you are and what type of photography you want to do. Have fun. It is only a hobby.

Looking to upgrade because the Canon XT has AF probs and the 18-55 kit lense is just a hair above mediocre.
