The old Coast Guard Station in Garibaldi is great plus an old steam train right there and the harbor. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1833044367025352&ref=br_rs

I have some 16" x 20" photos that I wan to frame. I plan on using a simple black frame and a white mat. Question is what is the best way to mount the photo before placing it in the frame? Should I just place it loosely in the frame with some sort of rigid backing or actually glue the photo to a rigid backing? If I glue it what is the best type of glue to use? How do the PROS do it?

I have used successfully for several years the Lineco Linen Hinging Tape to mount the backing to the mat board and the Lineco Archival Mounting Strips cut to size and placed on the backing. You can change photos if you want in the mat and there is never any damage to the print. I first hinge the backing board to the mat, then center the print with a small weight placed on the print (it is in a very soft bag that won't mar the print), and then place the mounting strips up against all 4 sides of the print. Works like a charm.

Best ever method is to use Linen Hinging Tape to hinge the mat board to the backing and then center the photo to the mat board cutout and secure it with archival mounting strips cut down to fit. I buy both at Amazon and do tons of mounting using this combination.

I went for both. Near in one and far in the other. Not only can I read fine print, but I can see the road signs. It worked out fine.

Smoke is horrible here in Central Oregon along with a lot of the rest of Oregon because of 13 fires. Washington is not too bad unless more smoke from Canada comes down. Idaho has fires in the Panhandle area and Montana is on fire. They have several fires in California including Yosemite. Smoke makes it very hard to get a clear, clean shot and if you shoot big landscapes, next to impossible. Hopefully, by then the smoke and fires will be much less. Good luck and I hope for the best!

Wonderful series Jack. It is very hard to capture birds in flight and I can certainly appreciate the photographer who gives it a whirl!

Just a little note on these lenses. I was having huge distortion problems until I updated the Distortion Control from Nikon and now it is back to my favorite walk around lens. when you buy the lens, go to Nikon and update the camera with the latest firmware and distortion control updates.

I put together a site using my own domain name which I transferred to GoDaddy and it turned out really well. Blake Rudis has two video's on it, one on the web site development and one on the registering with your domain service. Link to mine: www.jhudphotography.com. It was confusing until I watched the Rudis videos, and then it was pretty easy. If you are not a member of KelbyOne, this is a good free alternative.

Not for sure on the D810, but did you push the button on the AF-M switch and rotate the sub-dial? That is the one on the front of the camera, not the main one on the back.

I love shooting car shows and I find your shots to be some of the most interesting and beautifully done that I have seen. Thanks for sharing them and I love the use of the wide angle lens-perfection!

First time attempting to print a canvas pano and cannot seem to get my aspect ratio straight out of Lightroom CC (i.e., Merge > Panoramic) to match the aspect ratio of the canvas I am attempting to print (16" by 48" or 3:1) without cutting off about one-third of the photo. Can someone offer some assistance?

I have attempted exporting (RAW to JPEG) by photo dimensions (i.e., 16 X 48), pixel size (i.e., 2850 X 7650), etc. Cannot seem to get a handle on it?

So, how do I get my pano shot to match the 3:1 aspect ratio without lopping off the photo loosing the composition effect of a pano? Is this a crop or a zoom issue?

Probably a simple fix (I hope) but one I have never encountered before so need an assist.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

When you are in LR, activate the crop module and go into the aspect ration section and choose custom. In that module, enter the size you want the finished product (L & W-says aspect ratio, but don't worry about that) and hit the enter key. That will bring a crop box for those dimensions onto the photograph and you can size it via the handles to wherever the crop fits your vision. The finished, exported photo will be the size you need regardless of the "aspect ratio".

Does anyone have any experience with the Nikon D610? I thinking about buying it.

I love mine. Been shooting with it about a year now and it is supurb. Having good, glass really works, but the kit 24-85 is also good.
