I couldn't care less what the gun toting morons say, if you are American tonight and still say you have a right to carry a gun you are pathetic.

MY sympathy is with the parents of the children, the police who had to go in and SEE DEAD 5 year olds with gunshot wounds and the teachers and families who will never have a Christmas again.

Don't insult the memories of these people with your pathetic "right to bare arms crap".

Really JR1 ??
Hows that gun control working for you "civilized brits" ? The UK has the highest violent crime rate in the WORLD. Thanks but I wiil stick with my "Right to Bear Arms"

Thanks Trainnut,to bad others cant see the real problems and causes,

You are right. We didn't have this problem back in 1960's and we still had guns. The problems are that the things that we allow now that we didn't allow back then. TV and the movies were less violent, no violent video games, less drugs and the people with mental problems were not out in society. They were in hospitals and taken care of. It's NOT the guns. By the way i don't own one.

What is wrong is societies, health care professionals, government agencies and legal and court authorities inability to identify the mentally deranged people commiting these acts. Seldom are these acts commited by someone who hasn't had multiple incedents indicating there mental state. Most often it is years of failing to recognize the potential of these sociopaths and psyhcopaths to do great harm. Guns are NOT the issue, these people intent on doing harm will find a way, a car into a crowd of people or home made bomb made from easily accessable and
readily available components are just a few ways. We as a society have to recognize, identify and prevent these poeple from being able to act on there desires to harm others.

Low as it is, even an 8% wounding rate is probably too high, both because of the censoring of less serious cases, which in this context would be cases without a wounding, and because the survey did not establish how Rs knew they had wounded someone. We suspect that in incidents where the offender left without being captured, some Rs remembered with favor" their marksmanship and assumed they had hit their adversaries. If 8.3% really hit their adversaries, and a total of 15.6% fired at their adversaries, this would imply a 53% (8.3/15.6) "incident hit rate," a level of combat marksmanship far exceeding that typically observed even among police officers. In a review of fifteen reports, police officers inflicted at least one gunshot wound on at least one adversary in 37% of the incidents in which they intentionally fired at someone.[78] A 53% hit rate would also be triple the 18% hit rate of criminals shooting at crime victims.[79] Therefore, we believe that even the rather modest 8.3% wounding rate we found is probably too high, and that typical DGUs are less serious or dramatic in their consequences than our data suggest. In any case, the 8.3% figure was produced by just seventeen sample cases in which Rs reported that they wounded an offender.

I was a bit off on my stats but not to bad, these are the numbers from that study, copied and pasted.
By the way wick I have NEVER had a gun stolen nor have any of my guns ever been used in a crime. I am a responsible gun owner, I practice what I preach.

Gnslngr, here is the title of the actual study if you want to read through it all

You didnt read my responce, a secured weapon is also one that is in direct control of the owner. High capacity mags have a very relevent place in society. If I have to defend myself against a band of thugs, rioters, looters or low lifes I dont want to have to be reloading every 5 or 10 shots.

AMEN Oldtool,
Get back to statistics, when an armed citizen has to use a weapon under duress and actually discharge the weapon, over 80% of there shots hit the mark, when law enforcement uses a weapon under duress less than 35% of there shots hit the mark and when a criminal uses a weapon there accuracy is down around 20%. The reason that armed citizens are better under duress is because firearms are almost a way of life for them. They train and practice regularly, they know there weapons intimately and are proficient using them.

In that case if the guns were secured to begin with there would not have been a problem. Nothing is perfect, I realize there are things we can do to help curb these senseless acts of violence, but, I dont think it is worth giving up our right to protect ourselves, our families and our property from criminals.Remember when they take our guns, only criminals will have guns. Do you really want to live in a world like that? There are times of civil unrest and even natural disasters where you will be left on your own,how would you like to be able to protect your family, a baseball bat? Ask some of the people on the east coast about that why dont you.

Trigger locks are NOT a way to secure a weapon. They are easliy defeated with a drill and a few minutes of time. A secured weapon is one that is locked in a safe, vault or other secured area that requires a conserted effort to defeat access to the weapon. A secured weapon is also one that is in direct control by a responsible, legal, gun owner.

No just hold the gun owner accountable if a gun he owns is used in a crime because he failed to have the weapon safely secured.

No DEB what we do is make gun owners responsible for the safe storage and access to these weapons and hold them accountable, A responsible gun owner has all there weapons secured and accounted for at all times.
Also your comment about the poster speaking for itslef,... IT doesnt, the majority of those deaths are from suicide not accidents or from murder .

AHHH my friend you are STRONGLY mistaken believe me. Our founding fathers would have no problem with these types of weapons because they fully intended for us to be able to defend ourselves and our country against a standing army of which would be carrying similar weapons. They fully intended for law abiding citizens to be able to obtain and use weapons that were equally capatible to those they would be defending themselves against. Yes, I do hunt with mine as do most of my friends, with a limited capacity magazine they are perfectly legal and effective sporting arms. These so called"assualt rifles" are normally not used for self defense, handguns are much easier to carry, retrieve and assume a combat position at close range than the longer , heavier more burdensome "assault rifles", although some great compact rifles are available now.

Our lawmakers did away with the concealed carry permits about a year ago, as long as you are a law abiding citizen with a legal weapon you can carry it concealed. I have personaly trained over 2 dozen people in the proper use, handling and care of firearms, 6-8 of those were single ladies and about 6 months ago one of the ladies I trained
actually had to use her weapon to defend herself from a would be attacker. She didn't have to fire her weapon just seeing it was enough to make her would be attacker turn tail and run. Godbless America and lets hope common sense over hysteria prevails.

No I would not because I am a realist, the criminals will never give up there guns and you cant count on the police for protection, You may not feel that way but the crime statistics for where you live in general back up what I say.So thanks, but I will gladly keep my right to bear arms.
Hope you have a safe and Merry Christmas.
Respectfully,
Robert
