My father in law used to be a taxi driver down here in Devon and one day had a fare to take to London.
On the main road getting closer to London - he was pulled over by a policeman because he was 'driving slowley' and the policeman thought there may be something wrong or that he may have been drinking.
He soon understood when told the taxi was from Devon - as down here we don't charge around like they do 'up-country'.

Never trust them!
Near where I live, in one month, 3 separate articulated lorries were directed by their satnav 2 miles down a small road to a car ferry!!!!
Two had to reverse all the way back up with a police escort. The third somehow managed to turn around on the slip way.
Even in London - on a Top Gear test - one of the testers was directed to go down a dead end road.

I heard about Topaz Simplify for making photos look like paintings and drawings. Looks interesting, then was redirected to their other products. The whole Topaz suite is pretty expensive, but looks like some nice modules. Anyone have it and what do you think of it?

Quite good but check it out free for yourself - Topaz give 30 days totally free trial of all their products on their website. They also do a trial of the complete bundle.
Also check out NIK which Google now give out totally free.

Has anyone any experience with 'Mikvon AntiSun Screen Protectors' for camera screens?

Do they work and are they of any real benefit?

Checo out JIGSAW. I've found to be a GREAT time-waster. Much MUCH more fun than Solitare & MahJong or enen Tetris.

Definately - I have Daily Jigsaw, Daily Word Search and Daily Suduko on my favourite book marks bar. Starts the day off and fills in the 'unscramble brains' times.

I have been putting off upgrading to Windows 10 because:
1. I wanted to wait until the inevitable teething problems were sorted out and fixed.
2. There have been a lot of negative comments posted on various sites - including UHH - and horror stories.
But, as time is running out for the free upgrade I thought it time to upgrade my Windows 7 to Windows 10.

Results:
1. Auto update failed several times with 'cannot download' various components.
So I downloaded the ISO file and burnt it to disk, then - after backing up everything twice - I ran the disk and kept everything crossed.

2. The disk ran without problems and after a couple of hours I had a working Windows 10.
Much to my relief and occasional amazement, all my programs appear to run Ok - even my 17 year old Lotus suit - the only thing I had to change was the date format and where I like my files to be stored.

There will be a learning curve as several things are different and need to be worked out and got familiar with.
I was dissapointed that the MS ganes such as Solitare, Purble Place and especially Majong were missing but a quick look on Google turned up a free program that replaces these games on Windows 10.

MS Edge browser is OK but cannot accept add-ons so I am keeping Firefox as my main browser.

Win 10 uses Apps and there are scores of them - many free - in MS Store and the ones I have tried are generally very good.

Very please to say that Lightroom, Elements, Firestone and On 1 all work perfectly so there was virtually no disruption in my work flow.

Currently - I am pleased with the upgrade but there are many aspects of it I have yet to explore so will have to wait and see what unexpected foibles it has.

I have been using the latest version of ViewNX2, to view and resize many images, i.e. 60-100

Is there a free program, that will allow me to highlight, and resize many images at one time. I usually resize the images from 320-750, on the long side.

Firestone Photo Resizer works perfectly - I have used it for many years now. It will also resize and/or change compression of JPGs of lots of folders at once - keeping the file structure and can save the finished folders anywhere you want. It also has a multitude of other functions as well as resizing.

That is a beautiful picture! Is wide angle also a prerequisite to capturing a flare like that?

Not at all - I just happen to use wide angle for that picture.

If you have a reasonable light point or source to begin with - then one way you can do controlled sun burst effects with Topaz Star Effects filter via Lightroom or Elements. I may have done that on the original picture and I believe I may have done with this one also.

A small aperture will produce the star effect.
Sun flare otherwise varies from a washed out picture to 'orbs' in the picture. Some of these have a good effect - others don't.

The Canon 18-200 is relatively sharp for a superzoom but suffers from a lot of barrel distortion, especially at the wide end, and has high levels of chromatic aberration. It also suffers from a slow noisy focus motor and less than great build.

Usually easy to automatically correct in Lightroom Lens Correction.

Hello Friends,
I want to start shooting only raw using a higher iso and do my editing in Lightroom. Do I see more noise in raw compared to shooting jpeg? Also what software is the best to reduce the noise? Last question, in the post processing should the noise be reduced first or last. Thanks in advance for your feedback

Remember that RAW is the basic - unprocessed (relatively for the picky UHH'gers) data from the camera where JPG has been processed by the camera.

Lightroom does quite a good job of noise reduction on most files. It also has a simple to use mask which allows you some control on which areas are noise reduced. If you want more control the use Google NIK software - which is now free - which can be run from lightroom, or Topaz Denoise - which will cost you. It is worth trying the free options first.

'should the noise be reduced first or last'
There are mixed ideas on this one for various reasons but as a guide - Lightroom puts noise reduction near the end - after sharpening - so this is where they expect it to be done.

According to dxomark, the best lens is the Carl Zeiss Distagon T* Otus 1.4/55 ZF.2 Nikon (score 50). But the next best is the 85mm version, so I would recommend that as being in your desired range (focal length, not price).

I don't understand answers such as these! What has it got to do with the original question?
The question was about a 70 - 200mm lens so 85mm is way out.
A Hasselblad camera and lens would be better than my basic Canon with a kit lens - but I certainly wouldn't want to splash out that amount of cash!

Am I missing the point here?

Perhaps they are not familiar with it then or haven't bothered to learn its capabilities.
I am firmly in the 95% in Lightroom (plus NIK and Topaz filters).
