pg. 1: Sheenagh, love your pictures. You and your dogs look like you are having a lot of fun. Sorry, I just reread what you wrote. Your neice is playing with the dogs, whoops, "furbabies". Neice is very pretty. Love, joy, and fun really show in your pictures.

Mary,  If I were to make a choice I would choose #2 and 3, but all are very nice.

Dane, sure like your tree knot.

Nan, #1 is very pretty. Nice color contrast.

A few highlights unedited from a quick walk around my yard.
first:Mountain ash berries;secondly: a blue Morning Glory with pink edging... go figure? and the last, a dome of clouds over my back yard. It is so difficult not to edit this one!

Thank you so much Pat :-) I did get a lot of funny looks, but mostly people just laughed! It was too good an opportunity to miss :-)

Here you go. Won't be doing much picture taking this weekend I don't think. It's very hot and humid and I don't do either too well. I think I'll just enjoy the football and tennis on tv!

Thank you so much Sher :-) Nobody has to keep a pet and I reckon if you do, then you do your best by them, but they will love you unconditionally anyway <3

Ha ha, I have to agree with you! Now if the woman had an expression of sheer relief we could probably sympathise :-) The colours in the peacock are positively jewel like - lovely :-)

Thank you Gracie for a lovely start and interesting challenge. I took the following a couple of days ago with my niece keeping Kelsey and Sadie occupied in the water! I was only supposed to go for a paddle but ended up chest deep fully clothed - Oh the lengths we will go to for that special capture! I have slightly cropped all of them and believe they look better with a bit of post production tweaking ie., colour saturation and a bit of lightening for some shadows but these are how they came out of the camera - I know it's the same old, same old.........but they are happy pics :-)

Welcome to the Weekend Challenge! Thanks, again, to Georgiann for hosting the Mid-Week Challenge. GG, you did an awesome job, as always!

We are heading into a busy Labor Day Weekend here in the States, and I know many of you will be celebrating with family and friends. Your challenge this weekend will be to share with us your best photos that are straight out of the camera with NO post processing. The ONLY edit allowed is cropping!

Be safe this weekend and enjoy your last bit of summer. Keep Annette (Aleone63) in your thoughts and prayers.

Gracie you have some excellent images here...I particularly like the young faces.

Please excuse my dislike for the WORD Bokeh, as I find it to be a fancy modern foreign language term for Depth of Field.

with that being said it is a lovely technique and I would like to suggest to anyone who is trying to obtain a SHALLOW depth of field that you start with the lowest f-stop that your camera can handle and try to have some distance between your subject and back ground.
