I have the battery grip on my D800 and use the EN-EL18's in it us keep two EN-EL15's handy. It's -27c here in the oil patch right now and the batteries don't like the cold.
Try looking at it this way...
Heck even if you only go for a cruise for 7 days its worth it. I'm going for a second cruise there with the wife in May. Leaving from Vancouver on Celebrity Millennium. We are doing two photo safaris and some personal shore stuff. I highly recommend it. I have a great shot of a calving glacier in my collection from the last trip, along with some "stupid tourist" photos of people trying to get as close as possible to a black bear for better shots on their cell phone cameras. Trouble with the gene pool....theres no lifeguard.
Depends on what you want to fill your frame with. If the action is close enough to you perhaps. Look at what the media guys are using and copy them if those are the types of shots you are after.
HUH... I read about the light acids in your saliva that transfer to optical glass and over a long term affect any coatings. I didnt pay for Pro Lenses only to trash them. cleaning fluid is cheap, as are cleaning cloths in comparison. Good care will save save save you in the long term.
I don't own a tour company but have worked with several companies touring western North America. You can email me directly at kcupiol@gmail.com.
I'm a tour coach operator that lives in the Vancouver area. I have done many trips through the Okanagan Valley (Kelowna area) and the Rockies. I could spend days telling you of the opportunities for photographs. If there is anyway I can help let me know. I would strongly (emphasis on this) on driving the Icefields Highway between Jasper and Banff. One of National Geographics 10 best scenic highways in the world. Let me share my experience and help you plan your trip if you so choose.
Too late for me. I spent 9 weeks in isolation in the Athabasca Oil Sands. Came out and aquire;
D800
50 mm 1.8 AFS
105 VR 2.8
24-70 2.8
MB-D12
And assorted smaller accessories.
I think my wife has called for an intervention.
I understand Sony is the manufacturer for the D800 sensor is that correct? Since you are a dedicated user of Nikon, would you own a D800?
Thank you for your input Nikonian. Thats key information. So even though Nikon offers a D800 with 36.2 megapixels, it isn't necessarily going to produce an image better than a Canon with 24 megapixels. Is that correct?
I guess I should qualify my question better. From digital camera to camera, are all pixels created equal?
Take a look at
http://kelbytraining.com I have found it a reasonably priced resource that is always available if you have internet access. Not only helps with photography, but software and workflow. I highly recommend it
I would like to know...are all pixels created equal? Is it the standard that we base all resolutions on or are there differences that we should know about when it comes to rendering our art into the printed form?
Heres a couple of my suggestions
