By the way....I shot this with my Panasonic Lumix P&S....really would like some comments....is this a good shot?

Yes it is a good shot...the bird is a bit overexposed and the foreground is a bit congested. If I were setting up this shot...I would try to simplify the shot as much as possible. That would mean getting closer to eliminate the plants in the foreground... get lower so the driftwood was in the foreground and there was less water filling the shot.
Of course by then the bird would have flown away, I'd have dranched feet and be cussing at myself for not just taking the shot as it was.
So....yes it is a good shot!

I must admit...I'm guilty of peeking and not posting. I have various reasons....I don't do portrait, auto or macro photography...so I feel my critique unqualified. I do comment on landscape...at times....but if I read a review that puts my observation either to shame or on point, I'll quietly move on.
I hear your frustration...as I have posts with 200-300 views, if not more...and 12-40 comments and it leaves me wondering too.
I'll add my 2 cents in more often. Thanks for the heads up.

I'll do the same...btw your concert photos were great...but I wish I was at the concert and not just viewing the photos. Looked awesome.
I think thats awesome. Some people just appreciate any acknowledgement. I admit I am at fault also. But, If its a photo I appreciate I make every effort to comment how much I appreciate their work.

Mother and child belongs on the cover of Nat' Geo. Every shot...wall worthy! Thanks for joining....try not to neglect the family too much. I've been here for 9 months now...we should be starting a 12 step program for those of us who ignore the time and then sleep thru the alarm clock.

Thank you for that last shot...really cool. I've got to try my eye at shots like that....I've been locked on the 'vistas' for too long. Nature really amazes at every level. Really appreciate the posts. Thanks

Nice shot...and unusual....only because my wine glass never sat on a railing long enough for anyone to get a picture!

Yes..the clubs are a great place to mostly learn from your mistakes..sometimes the judges are ruthless...sometimes they point out a minor mistake...no one else would notice but they did...I might disagree at the time..but I go back and make the changes they recommend..and guess what? They were right....it helps you not to make the same mistake again...

I'm use to harsh criticism....I've entered quilts in juried shows...they can be very critical!

Betsout06, thanks for the remarks! I am from NY, Syracuse area. Heading to Woodgate Thursday, hope to get some good shots. Curious white is Pound Ridge? Thanks again.

Pound Ridge is 40 miles NE of the city....westchester county... I'm right on the Conn/NY border. More deer than people in my town...lots of photo ops for macros of deer ticks! If your ever in the area...let me know...lots of woods and hiking trails for photos

Please do. What PP do you use? I'm looking at Lightroom and Corel Paint Shop X4.

Your photos are great...I too, love the feather...catching the water droplett is difficult for most...you caught it beautifully.
Personally....I love lightroom 4. Easy to use...great results.
