Hawks and Doves my friends, Hawks and Doves ...

I'm never quite sure, perhaps someone will enlighten me ? How does one tell the difference between a yankie, a doodle and a dandy ?
God Bless America, whatever it is.

"Why America is the greatest country in the world" ?

HA HA HA some folks will believe anything.

'America(s)' is not a country : it's a continent. Often for geographical convenience divided into North America, Central America, and South America.

The former British colony, mainly situated between Mexico and Canada, is I understand, now known as the United States of America.

BTW - I keep meaning to ask, are you getting along, without too many difficulties, without us ? I'm sure you'll get the hang of self-governance, given another hundred years or so ....

Although it may be tempting to reduce the kit to one wide-range lens, such as the excellent Tamron 18-270mm, if you are intending to go to 'out of city' areas, it is tempting fate to rely on just a single lens.

If, for any reason it fails to function, gets smashed or stolen, then you have no camera to work with.

Take TWO lenses, as you first suggested.

If it was me, I would take a 17-70 and a 28-300 of whatever make suits you best.

GOOD LUCK with your trip.

I always go out with someone I expect to be able to have sex with.
That way, if my camera misbehaves (before I do) or it pours with rain, the afternoon isn't entirely wasted.

Starbucks or Macy's ?
I would pick whichever had the staff that least cared about what the customers were doing ............
LOL

Have a nice day kid.

What MT says is the classic way of doing what you need.

It can take a bit of practice to get the feel of the technique.

Expect a few wrong ones at first.

Hi ASR666 -

The tomb is in the old, now ruined, 13 century church of St John in Greatham village, Hampshire, England.

The alabaster tomb statue is of Dame Margery Caryll, born 1592, and died in 1632, aged 40.

Thanks for your replies guys.
I'm trying to catch the impression of the 'here and gone' illumination from the headlamps of other passing traffic.

Just imaging you are on the back seat with your lover ......... A tender moment suddenly turned harsh by the sweep of bright light, but then the darkness again enfolds around you with its comforting embrace ....

Who cares if the diner has greasy burgers ?

I've been pp working this image to make it look more like 1960's - 70s style of silk-screen printing.

I have a gallery that represents my artworks, and they have requested some signed, limited edition prints to sell.

C & C appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks to all for your greetings.

This old church crypt is only opened one day a year for inspection.
I was invited by the church leaders to attend and take pictures.

Another picture of a tomb below .........

So does time mock us all ....

I didn't have a clue what Chuck E Cheese's was.

Having looked at their website, I can only conclude that it's some form of cruel and unusual torture facility.
Are they franchised to Guantanamo Bay ?

Anyway, I digress ......
Set ISO to the lowest setting your camera will allow, Aperture mode, and set to f8.
Use a zoom lens to fill the frame with your subject.

If it still looks grainy after that, you must be living in a dust-storm.

Good Luck.

Hi Guys and Guyettes -

Just decided to join you all, from wet, grey and cold England, where I'm an Advanced member of the Photographic Society.

I shoot almost anything (the more right-wing they are, the greater the satisfaction LOL) but my main joy is in candid street subjects.

Anyway, hope we all get along OK.

Just a few interesting recent images below ......
