I was stationed at Barksdale AFB from 1964 o 1967 and hung out at Caddo Lake. There was an old fishing camp near the dam and I would help Mr. Davis around the place, repair boats, guide a few anglers, etc. Your picture brings back wonderful memories...
Geez, 2MATO. I travel lots throughout Oregon and missed the Road Scholar thingy. Would love to get in on the next one. Can you advise me who to contact???
Brenda, great shots. The art of macro seems to escape me. Congrats!
To all who responded... Thank You all. I only asked what it was because my girlfriend spotted it and yelled, "What the @$%^$#$ is that?! I hate when questions go unanswered....So, it's officail: It's a Yellow and Black Smashable.
Tee Hee, you should hear her language when I show her a snake.

Can somebody ID this spider for me? Range includes the Pacific Northwest or SW Oregon, more precisely... Thanks
Spider
Davis> Cool picture. But, tell me about that fish in your avatar!....
Welcome to my place. Now leave!
In my humble opinion, you (as a newbie/amateur) are doing great!
Bodie is kewl but there are other treasures in the region, some of them little known- like the lake picture I sent earlier and like Mono Lake, a saltwater lake with mineral "tufas" projecting up from the floor of the lake, and the magnificent Sierra Nevadas. And, of course, MiniSinCity (Reno) and the north entrance to Yosemite. All awesome places...Route 395, from Oregon south, is full of old barns and points of interest. We make this trip regularly and am glad to have my sis along. She picks up a lot of the expense so she's a good sister...I'll be active on this site until my next adventure in a few weeks (San Francisco)...
CatGirl... A great series! He's cute!
Hi Trina. When last we talked I was in a motel room trying to type on a Kindle. Not that pleasant a task. I'm home now and have found the picture I mentioned. I remember how you described your reaction to your own RR picture and I do remember that it struck a chord in me that I could relate to. This particular picture instills a dreary loneliness in my mind, yet draws me to explore the possible adventure beyond the visual limits of the fog. However, I don't find it depressing or sad. I love fog, even when I was going out to sea everyday, I enjoyed the life-threatening fog. I, too, wonder about who has travelled over these tracks; where they might be now; and the mist is mysterious and inviting. Is it a journey into the unknown that interests us? Is it a macbre interest in death and the world beyond? Oops, that was a little heavy,eh?... Hope you are enjoying your time on UHH as much as I am. I wish I could post all 600 pics I took on this recent road trip. Such beautiful country (N. California and Nevada). Gene
