1. Unless you are supremely confident in your ambidextrous abilities, NEVER rent a stick shift in the UK... always fun to watch the looks on my American Clients faces, when they realize that sitting on the “wrong side” of the car... also means that they will have to change gear with the “wrong hand”... 🤣😂

I learned to drive on English sports cars, albeit Ameican fitted with the driver on the left side. I drove tractor trailers for ten years and I have had police/security driver training for my current employment. AND, I will never again save a few pounds by renting a stick-shift. Ain't worth the anxiety.

So, why is it called a "Blue Moon?" Inquiring minds want to know.

A blue moon coming tonight

USA TODAY

A Blue Moon is coming this weekend. And it's not the craft beer nor Amazon's new spaceship, both of which have appropriated the name.

No, its just a full moon with a colorful nickname. And here's the scoop on where that name came from and what it means: Most seasons have three full moons. But once in a while, a season - like spring of this year - will have four full moons. And it's the third of those four that's called a blue moon. The actual moment the moon will be full is Saturday at 5:11 p.m. ET, Space.com said.

The more common definition of a “blue moon” is the second full moon in one calendar month, though some purists sniff at that definition, which is technically incorrect.

Even the venerable publication Sky & Telescope said that “the second-full-moonin- a-month (mis)interpretation is like a genie that can't be forced back into its bottle. But that's not necessarily a bad thing.” Language is malleable, after all.

According to AccuWeather, seasonal blue moons aren't all that rare, occurring once every two or three years. Of course, the moon won't appear blue. It'll be the same color it's always been. Blue-colored

moons in photos are usually made using special blue camera filters or in a post-processing program.

Saw this today. Really great. If you're any kind of history buff...see it. Peter Jackson, of "Lord of the Rings" produced it and there is a 30 minute behind the scenes segment after the movie. Amazing achievement of restoring vintage film footage and then colorizing and adding sound to bring it alive for the viewer.

I want "my music," not most of the commercial crap, when I want it. I like keeping my phone separate from my music listening. My Nano is going strong and I love it! Call me a dinosaur. And I still listen to and buy vinyl.

I'm a hybrid in this discussion. When I'm home, vinyl is my go to. Better fidelity and it is a "commitment" to listening and enjoying the cover art (larger format). Grew up with vinyl and dabbled in 8-track and cassette for a bit before being swept up in the cd wave. Three years ago, my best friend from eighth grade gave me two new re-mastered 180 gram vinyl reissues from the sixties and seventies. "Cool," I said and told him I didn't have a turntable anymore. That's your problem," he said. Bought a new turntable and receiver that has a phono imput (aux will not work!) and haven't looked back. The first time I played an old familiar album for my wife, she wondered why it stopped after the fifth song. I told I had to turn it over. I still have all my music in my iTunes library and ipod for the car and travel. My turntable has the ability to digitize albums and then transfer then to iTunes. The best of both worlds. My hunch is that vinyl will continue for a long time and cds will start phasing out, as young people are more into downloading and streaming. Life without music would "b-flat."

Just did our first cruise and it was the Rhine Getaway with Viking. Four countries in eight days with one "hotel room." Wonderful. Only 190 passengers, so it feels more like a neighborhood than a floating city. Because of the smaller sized ships they usually dock within walking distance of the towns every day. We even returned to eat almost all of our lunches on board (since they were included) and then disembarked into town again. Excellent service all the way around. Highly recommend Viking.

Baseball never was for those with short attention spans. That said, it has gotten too long and they may lose future audiences if they don't speed it up. One of the beauties of baseball was that it was the only major sport not ruled by a clock, but now that may be it's downfall.

[quote=sippyjug104]Shouldn't a "No Hitter" really be called a "No Baser?"

Actually no. A "No Hitter" can have many baserunners due to walks. A "Perfect Game" would have "No Basers," but Perfect Game sounds so much better!

Baseball is not for people with short attention-spans.
