Remember what a big deal the iPod was a few years ago? There were several different kinds, and Apple sold millions of them. Then cell phones came on the scene, and the iPod became redundant.

While my Internet radio is being repaired, I wanted a way to send music through the house using my little FM transmitter. I have some old iPods, so I thought one of them would do it. Easier said than done. I can get the music to play through the radios, but getting the music I want onto the iPod seems to be impossible. Dealing with the peculiarities of both the iPod and iTunes is a challenge beyond my capabilities. I look up how to do something online and try it on my equipment, but it doesn't work. I'll play around with it again today, but I'm not hopeful.

- My old iPods are dormant for just that reason.... you need to have and use an Apple account to load music on them. Too much of a hassle for me. I started using Spotify and have over 3500 songs in various genres to listen to along with their (Spotify) set up stations. These are accessed with my android phone, tablet or PC/laptop.

If you can get hold of a windows 7 book for dummies, they have another software option in there somewhere. I can't remember the name & have the book to our local library.

My wife still uses an iPod to listen to audio books. She connects it to her MacBook Pro and chooses what to synchronize using iTunes. Same process as for iPhone, etc.

That's why I had a ZUNE instead of an iPod. Apple, who normally is smart, got stupid when it came to music. Everything has to be done through iTunes. MAJOR pain in the ass. Instead of working on some of the more obscure functions, Apple, how about if you let us just rip CD's to the phone EASILY? On my Android phone, I could rip CD's to my computer, then transfer to my Samsung. With the iPhone: forget it. I have Amazon PRIME, and I have access to 2 million songs. I find it's enough.

I want "my music," not most of the commercial crap, when I want it. I like keeping my phone separate from my music listening. My Nano is going strong and I love it! Call me a dinosaur. And I still listen to and buy vinyl.

I use my IPOD in my woodshop. I used a 3.5mm to stereo RCA connected to my 30 Y/O Kenwood.
Sounds awesome.

Typical Apple - make things unreasonably obtuse so you only use Apple products to get it done.

I got my son an early MP3 player that when you plugged it into your computer it looked like any portable memory device. All you had to do was copy your ripped music files to it, unplug it, and you were good to go. No account setup, no sign in, just simple.

I have an Ipod Classic, 120gb memory. I have approx 40,000 songs on it.
Plugs into an adapter in an old Mercedes Wagon hidden in the glove box, Set it on shuffle play. It plays thru my Radio/Sat Nav console. Even displays which tune and artist is playing. With shuffle play, I never know what song is coming up next. Many suprises

Yes, I've got one in my car, connects via USB, and shuffles tracks. Had it about eight years now. Still connects to iTunes to add new tracks.
