Great group of pictures and the video is real nice seeing how I was an avid watcher of Black Sheep Squadron. Thanks for bringing these to light.

:) Hah! I always told my kids "there are people that figure out where the ditches go and those that dig them, the choice is yours on which you want to do" :)

Thanks :)

My dad spent 18 years telling me kind of the same thing but he was a lead Draftsman or now they call them a Mechanical Eng. and he said " you can either work smart with your brain or work hard with your back and you will make more with your brain than you ever will with your back." Well I spent my life going down the road less traveled and drove truck for 35 odd years ... now i have a back that is bent and sore most of the time and a brain that is little used .... but the money was good!!

Well not to be out done there is a town just north of where I live here in the Black Hills of South Dakota that used to be a cattle loading town it is also called Dumont it is now a trail head for Rails to Trails for hiking and and bike path. Now it is pretty much Ghosted but a real pretty area in the fall with the colors. Have made a lot of trips to Denver from here and i liked the city till a few years back when they had I-25 all tore up and the traffic was hell .... almost LA style stop and move five feet and stop again. Nice pictures of the city.

How do they say it "New York, New York the city so nice they named it twice, New York, New York." I spent the first 5 years of driving tractor trailer in and about NYC and Long Island it is a city that when you enter at nite and I mean at 1:00 in the morning is really enchanting and the lights no matter the season are a draw. I moved west 20 years ago and when the trucking company I worked for had a load to the city I would take it most of the time because it was not as scary as most of the stories I heard coming out of the mouths of drivers, I never had a bad thing happen while I was there and I never went looking for trouble either. Central Park during the X-Mas season used to be all alight I was wondering if it is still that way?

Well as a team driver I went where the truck went woke up more than once in Sids and my partner was blowing his paycheck I could not afford to lose even a single penny many years later I used to deliver to Las Vagas and I did not even care about the bright lights of the city. I was delivering to the lower south western part of the city. But I will say from the Hi way it was a site to behold the lights glitz and glitter.

They used to have a Truck Stop that took a lot of drivers money .... I can remember a time when in the back lot one used to be able to buy tires chains and tv's and cb's for a dime on the dollar .... Never got down town, Sids was at the bottom of the mountain and easy to get to.

I've used a variety of images with which I'm particlarly pleased or which are related to particularly significant aspects of my life. My present avatar is a photo of a colored pencil portrait (on a pumice-gesso ground) I made of "Tish" ("Morticia" ) a red-tailed hawk and my partner in falconry and hunted ...mostly on rabbits, squirrels, and pheasants...from 1963 to 1982. Best hunting companion I ever had! Another of my avatars is an informal grab-shot portrait captured by a close friend of mine...I don't "take" a good picture, so that one is a real favorite.

This has been, indeed, an enjoyable thread!

I also Live in South Dakota in the Black Hills South of Deadwood .... Nice to see others from this state posting!!

Tad a great job you live in Fla. and travel to Tenn to get these shots? I have been through Wis and Minn and they have a lot of these big and beautiful barns but like the ones in Tenn they are poorly maintained and they are falling in on there self's . I think that the reason for that is that the Agriculture in many areas is dieing out and the barn are let fall in to disrepair from lack of use or any need for them. I feel that the pictures that are taken today of these old homesteads may be the lasting testament to a by gone era. Love the pictures keep on clicking!!
