The City changes out the background lights on the arch the spans Virginia Street (Casino row) from white to blue, as a holiday acknowledgement. This creates a striking view that is hard to capture by camera since there is no place to park at this particular vantage point. In a slowly moving car, the camera had to focus through the windshield in a handheld position. Sure, a tripod, a stationary platform and a time/release would have been better but... this does convey driving to up, and under the arch in a dramatic nighttime setting nonetheless. Hope you take all into account and like the image.

Thanks, ebrunner! I had only one opportunity at this last night. We are not glamorous like Vegas, but have some panache in Reno with the arch. :-D

I agree. Circumstances negate much criticism. Thanks.

I take it you live in the area then, Chuck Barker? Thanks for your comment and why not give it a try yourself?
:-D
All things considered, it is a great shot. Reno also has two other advantages over your counterpart.
1) You can, as a general rule, play longer in Reno.
2) There is that complete lack of a catchy nickname like "Lost Wages".
:)
They used to have a Truck Stop that took a lot of drivers money .... I can remember a time when in the back lot one used to be able to buy tires chains and tv's and cb's for a dime on the dollar .... Never got down town, Sids was at the bottom of the mountain and easy to get to.

When I drove truck I had neither the time or money to stop in either place.
Well as a team driver I went where the truck went woke up more than once in Sids and my partner was blowing his paycheck I could not afford to lose even a single penny many years later I used to deliver to Las Vagas and I did not even care about the bright lights of the city. I was delivering to the lower south western part of the city. But I will say from the Hi way it was a site to behold the lights glitz and glitter.
