I have had the Tamron for 6 months now. Own a newspaper here in NH. I like it for versatility but for indoor use it is a little tough to get a great shot. Outdoors and for "around town" images it is great to have only one body and one lens vs 1 body several lens or 2 bodies with different lenses. The attached photo's were shot Sunday, weather was 30 degrees and varied from overcast to sunny. They were also shot on a boat going upriver so it was a might bumpy. All shots are JPG (I have the RAW shots) with no touch-ups.
It is easy to carry all day, semi-waterproof and has a nice 6 year warranty.
If you like PM me for more.

Mike

This is a 2 acre plot of woods planted in the 1800's used for milling. Planted in lines along a river they extend 200 yards long. This was shot on an absolutely sunny day with a Canon Rebel, 70/300, lens. It is really dark as the trees are all 125 ft tall and block the sun from reaching the floor.

First shot is as taken - 2nd 1 is with a little more contrast

Anything to do different? Day went from bright sun to semi-overcast to overcast within an hour - 2nd shot is probably closer to what sky really looked liked as the weather shifted.

I find #1 more believable. If you want to improve it, put it through Photoshop or whatever PP software you have and set the white point on the "2" in "200." You'll be amazed at the difference.

Thanks RMM - I did it at 1 as 2 made it look washed out - better?

Very pretty. I am new at this, did you use a tripod? Your shutter speed was so slow. Is there a reason you choose to use such a slow shutter speed? Just interested in the different choices photographers make. Thanks

Andrea - I actually just now playing with ALL of my manual settings. Truth is I couldn't remember which setting would "freeze" the water so I have 5 different shots of this scene - each with a different setting. I just liked this one the best. No tripod that day I was shooting freehand.

This 1 was taken on a completely overcast day in Dec. in a 50 ft deep draw under heavy tree branches - after taking it RAW I played around with the natural color that was left....I added no extra color - just some boost and detail
Canon Rebel - 35-80 - ISO 100, F4.5 and 1/30

Here is a shot from last nights (Dec 10, 2011) full moon. shot with a Canon Rebelxs and a 70/300 lens....a little photoshop help to bring out some shadow

I think that the moon shot would look more natural in B&W with a black background... of course that is my opinion. May I try some editing on your moon photo. Let me know when you get back online.

Feel free to edit - Thanks
