Great post. You can control what you want on each lens. At least you have a choice whether you want the focus midway or slightly back focus or slightly front focus. The choice is yours rather the lens or camera.

I check all my Nikons for either front or back focusing. D800, D750 & D7500. Some lenses are close. My 24-70 VR needed -8 on my D800. I set them at wide open & the zooms in the midway area.

I fine focus all my lenses on my D750 & D800. Some are right on others are either front focus or back focus. Easy to do just takes time. Make sure you set the lens at the lowest setting. If its a 2.8 lens do the test at 2.8. Check your owners manual.
