LIKED your photos of the ruins but I DO HAVE a problem with the use of the ubiquitous term Anasazi. It seems if you don't now what to call it, call it Anasazi. They must have been the most wide spread of people anywhere at all times. Arizona, Utah, Colorado, everywhere.

Did you ever look up the meaning of Anasazi?

Nice! You can carry or find enough water on these 2-3 day hikes (I'm guessing you mean round trip)?

I have spent as much as 10 days in the area and have had no problems with water

Beautiful photos! Thanks for your post. Cedar Mesa and Bears Ears are now on my "bucket list"

The petroglyphs in the area are also fascinating especially the ghost panels

Although I'm far more interested in unknown, rarely visited ruins I must admit some of the most photogenic Anasazi ruins are just an easy dayhike to reach. That's true of all of these images although the last ruin is actually easier to reach by a short 2-3 day backpack than it is to as a dayhike (fairly technical, loose and steep as well as a route finding challenge).

I have spent a fair amount of time in the Cedar Mesa and Bears Ears many years ago. Your pictures are magnificent and they brought back fond memories. Thank you very much

We were told there are a number of highly poisenous ones, so did watch out. I wouldn't know one type of snake from another. Someone mentioned watching for birds, there are so many amazing birds and things of interest to see. Even watched and took pictures of dung beatles. Suspect they are not on everyone's photo list! there is so much to see and learn!

I have had a cobra on my door step, a black mama crawl out from under my bed and almost stepped on a puff adder. My wife and I were just talking about that we cannot wait to get back. A life living completely safe is not worth living

I have taken malaria prophylaxis and had bad side effects like diarrhea. My wife who is 75 refuses to take it. Just take the precautions to prevent bites

I have spent affair amount of time in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia and South Africa. Traveled on my own and also guided safaris.

The only thing I would suggest as a thought which is cheaper and I found more enjoyable is a self guided tour. You can take your time spend more time in one place and are not subject to others wanting to move on. I did that last February and took 2000 pictures. One item that I did not see mentioned was you need to take out medical insurance. Medicare and other insurance do not typically cover in foreign countries

She was out in the church yard talking to other church members with me banging on the window trying to get her attention

Just 5 MPH over the limit, and you got a ticket?

In Buffalo there is not much going on so the patrol man was probably bored. Cost me $120. That was 20 years ago in my wife's Miata. She was not with me

I have been over 3 times in the last 18 month 2 guided tours and the last one self guided tour. From now on I will do the self guided tour. All the advice you have been given is very good. Take less camera equipment. No tripods or monopod. I have taken on the three trips and never used.

One other thing and this was my experience, I was only questioned about my weight on carryon at the beginning in LA. I had 12 kilos, but when I informed them it was cameras gear they let me through. The biggest problem I had were the commuter flights with the overhead being to small, but the flight attendants were very nice and creative and figured out a way so I did not check the bags.

Prime lens I have used where a 300 and 600 take great pictures but very restrictive I will stick to 80-400 zoom. Next trip will be 6 months self guided
