Has anybody used, or know about, Crucial SSDs? They are doing a lot of advertising and have two models: X6 in plastic case and X8 in a metal case.

From an IT Manager here: You can go with Crucial any time. I've been using their memory and drives in our company's desktop to avoid the cost of manufacturer's original and also installed 500Gb SSD's in most of our old desktops and notebooks without an issue so far.

I can't say about their support since I didn't have any issues but talking to my peers they seem to be very fast and easy to deal in case you have a problem with one of their products.

So far I just can say good things about them and I don't think you can go wrong using their drives.

Cheers

It is not how long or how easy is to replace the screw... is how much it costed to know how to do it correctly.

One Z50 with Sigma 150-600 Contemporary picture. First one shot with the combo. Nowadays are far better but I don't have access to any here at work. The advantage of having an FX lens in a DX body is also great (900mm is beter than 600mm) but the best is to be able to have 600mm in the middle of the zoom range where the sharpness is always better.

I deleted my post when I realized you had already replied. Don't know why it was not deleted.

The FTZ and FTZ II adaptors have NOTHING to update and don't have any firmware. Cameras and lenses have firmware. FTZ and FTZ II adapters simply adapt the F mount to the Z mount, place the lens at the proper distance from the sensor and pass through the electrical contacts. Nikon has no information on whether or not non Nikon lenses will work on the Z series, adapter or not. Best of luck.

You are incorrect. Yes they have firmware and yes they have updates available. Just check the Nikon FTZ page @

I'm a casual, amateur photographer using a Sigma 150-600mm, with a Z50, and very happy with it.

Have you ever heard of the difference between apples and turnips?

If a 35mm frame of film or full-frame sensor is roughly 36mmx24mm, why are you asking about the pixel resolution of film that is 229mmx229mm?

The only people shooting film in 2021 are fossils, the idle rich and hipsters from Brooklyn. The only ones claiming film is better than digital now 20-years into commercial digital cameras are fools.

Never did a Grand Canyon float trip so I may be wrong but I wouldn't expect a lot of direct solar light down there other than around noontime, think about it.

If I'm right the best would be to check in advance with the tour operator if there are outlets available and what voltage they are and, even though, I would take a bunch of spare batteries... nothing is so frustrating than losing a great picture for not having available power.

Enjoy your trip

i feal like it might be sd card also, thank you

I doubt it is since all other lens perform ok. It might be something in the interface of the lens that is messing with the shutter speed or closing of the second shutter panel. A call to Nikon is the best route right now, they should be able to have a clue of what may be going on.

Isn't P = 'Programmed" ? At least that is how Nikon call it.

Probably the best place to get that is on the Datacolor and X-Rite websites. Both have various white papers and other training aids that explain the process.

The simple overview for raw workflow is

12-bit or 14-bit (per color channel) Raw Capture —>
Post Processing Application Camera Profile —>
Initial color conversion to a wide gamut color space in a 16-bit per channel intermediate bitmap—>
Conversion to 8-bit or 10-bit monitor profile for viewing —>
Image adjustment in reference to that calibrated, profiled monitor* —>
Image export conversion to 8-bit JPEG in sRGB color space —>
Lab printing conversion from sRGB to printer+paper+process profile (or printer+paper+ink profile) —>
Finished print

*Image adjustment may include many parameters such as blacks, shadows, exposure, highlights, whites, white balance color temperature and hue, contrast, saturation, sharpening, etc. AND it may be done in reference to a "proofing profile" or "simulation profile" which is usually the TARGET printer/paper/ink or printer/paper/process profile.

For JPEG workflow from the camera, just note that all image adjustment happens before exposure, by setting the camera menus and controls.

The finer points would take days to explain... But if you concentrate on the above, and do some reading of your calibration kit provider's web site documents, it will fall into place.
Probably the best place to get that is on the Data... (show quote)

Thanks... It seems I will have a lot to read.... Cheers
