Dave, this is not intended as criticism of you, but it is criticism of Nikon. Look up the word "obfuscation". When a manufacturer intentionally offers two quite similar products without providing a clear, straightforward explanation as to why or differentiation between them, I find the choice is very simple - quickly pass on both products and look for an honest manufacturer who doesn't play games. Nikon would be better served to use its development dollars creating a better APS-C version of this lens instead of a "cheapy" version targeted at low budget first time camera buyers. /Ralph

My, how topics have changed! It has been a very long time since I peeked in on UHH, and this is not something I expected to see. I glanced at the replies, and found them all either valid points, or hysterically funny. I did not, however, notice any responses from women. It's very possible that their profile is intentionally ambiguous, and that's all good. I'll just add my $.02.

Does this potential client refuse to have a nurse in the room when she is at the gyn. for her annual appointment? The nurse is there not just to be an extra set of hands to assist the doctor, she is there for the protection of both the patient and the doctor. This is the same kind of situation. You need to protect yourself.

If you can't bring someone in to assist with hair and make-up, you will need/want someone to change lenses/filters/adjust lighting, etc for you. If your potential client refuses that, tell her the session will be voice or video recorded. If she balks at that, then run for the hills. This sounds like a set up waiting to happen.

I hate to make the young lady sound like a villain, but if she does not want any witnesses around but is willing to have photos taken of her by an (almost) complete stranger, something is really off.
