Those are very nice! The first one is just adorable.

Thank you John. Since it was snowing lightly I thought I would pay the next a visit. This was the first time I've spotted the partner.

Use descriptive file names which clearly and uniquely identify each image. When you go to post you will see the file name next to "Choose File". If you've selected the wrong file it should jump out at you.

A couple of new shots of GHO, one on the nest and its partner in nearby cottonwood tree.

I encourage you to start a "Texture" folder, with different sub folders, such as Ice.
Thank you Douglass, I have a Texture folder and have created a 'Macro' sub-folder. First time I used a extension tube. I used AF-s focus priority with BBF, starting at close focal distance then slowly pulling back until in focus occurs and the shutter trips.

Thanks to all so far. I'll definitely look at Puffin Pad. I have been to Cabela's to look at hunting options. And I do like the DIY option. Decision time I guess

I got the Puffin Pad to help steady the camera while hand holding while shooting BIF. Place under armpit flat side toward body, elbow and upper arm into 'U' shape underside of Puffin Pad. If you have a Puffin Pad give it a try.

Agree…kinda
EXIF shows
Sigma 50-500mm F4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM
Shot at 420 mm
Exposure: Manual exposure, 1/2,000 sec, f/13, ISO 720
Flash: Off, Did not fire
Focus: AF-C, at 2.5m, with a depth of field of about 2.3cm, centered on the focus point
AF Area Mode: Single Area

It's the aperture selected but it's also how the lens/camera is set to auto focus: The focus info is the key here: You were "spot focused" with a narrow DOF; the lens focused in the "single area" of the image area. Select a different AF for number of focus points.

So, it was the combination of the focal length, the aperture AND the AF option selected.
Agree…kinda br EXIF shows br Sigma 50-500mm F4.5-6... (show quote)

With the focal distance being 2.5m (approx 98") this appears to be very close to the minimal focal distance of this lens. Could this cause the bottom portion of this photo to out-of-focus ?.

A good catch on my last visit to the Wildlife Dr. I went early in the morning, light is so much better and less people.
Was just entering when I seen this Falcon with his kill.
First time I seen this bird. It's a beauty! Took as many pictures as I could and a couple of him flying, those are a little on the soft side. He is a very fast bird. He abandoned his kill a few times and then came back and swooped it up.

Great set Lilo, really like the BIF ones. I also shoot with the same setup as you.

The Great Egrets have returned to their nesting place.
Not so many this year, everybody is hoping that more will arrive.
Those birds gather sticks and moss all day long to build their nests.
They also put on a great show with their graceful movements.
I try to shoot through the branches, was only able to get a couple of decent shots.
Thanks for viewing.

Both very nice, great planning equals great photo's
