If you only shoot at night and sleep during the day in a coffin, I would be concerned.

Just a little food for thought

Looking completely dispassionately which is better photographically – for image quality?

First the significant differences (Comparing APS-C and full frame only):

DSLR bodies are bigger and heavier than mirrorless bodies.
DSLRs take many more photos per battery charge than mirrorless
DSLRs have mirrors :)
Mirrorless don’t have mirrors :) :)
Mmmm – can’t think of any other significant differences.

Second important similarities:

Both have sensors
Both have viewfinders
Both have LCDs
Both have lenses
Mmmm – can’t think of any other important similarities.

So how does any of this make a mirrorless better than a DSLR?? Well IMHO it doesn’t, it can’t and it won’t as far as image quality of photographs is concerned. Excluding the photographers skill levels and the many personal preferences involved, the image quality of a photograph is directly proportional to the quality of the lens and the sensor.
Mirrorless do not have better sensors than DSLRs. Mirrorless do not have better lenses than DSLRs. So photographs from mirrrorless cannot have better image quality than those from DSLRs.

John, after reading through all the pages of responses on this thread and having many good laughs, all I know is that Canon, Nikon, Olympus and Sony along with third party companies like Sigma and Tamron are putting boatloads and boatloads of money and research into mirrorless cameras and/or lenses, not so much into DSLR's anymore. However, rumor has it Nikon is planning on possibly releasing two new DSLR's soon but that might be just to keep current DSLR customers happy since Nikon is pushing their mirrorless technology....seems mirrorless technology is where the money is flowing toward.....as a side note, everyone enjoy your current camera, keep shooting, Cheers everyone.

I agree.

Some like them, some do not.
Some think they are the greatest thing since sliced bologna.
Just another camera design to me.

I shoot mirrorless because I don't like looking into my mirror and never seeing my reflection...should I be concerned?

Sitting outside enjoying a fabulous morning in East Central Florida, enjoying the truly glorious weather we've had the last week or so. Usually in April summer, heat and humidity are already here however with the temps in the low-60's and mid-70's is just too good to pass. Sitting on the patio enjoying a coffee a number of feathered visitors were also out & about foraging and feeding and trying to get their pictures. Hope you enjoy the photos, best in dl or ddl. Just a beautiful Easter Morning....Happy Easter everyone.

There are, but be careful they are compatible with the version of GIMP you are using. I've downloaded some for a previous version before GIMP completely redesigned how plugins were used, and half of them don't work. To be honest, I'm more experienced in darktable than GIMP, and have many more links for LUT files and stuff like that.

Good to know, I'll research before any action taken...thanks again.

Another possibility for MacOS, Windows, and well, my preference Linux is an application called Glimpse.

Glimpse is a fork off of GIMP and was redesigned with a more modern feel and focused on usability. It is still open source and may succomb to some of the same issues. I have not used it yet, but another forum member that I have spoken with uses it exclusively and has nothing but praise.

I've noticed there are numerous artistic plugin's for GIMP.
