can you do a panorama of several shots and stitch them together? If so, to add fun have the family “clown” be at one end and then run around you to the other end- to be in the picture twice.

as a former educator, I always assume people don't remember the answer until they ask the question. So I recommend start taking photos and when you realize you want an answer go looking for it. So keep you manual handy, and when you wonder what "that setting" does, look it up, or if you are a more physical learner, try fiddling with it until you understand what it does. I now help elderly folks learning to use computers and the hardest thing to teach is "click on it and see what happens" They are so afraid they will do something wrong. Same with cameras. I've never broken a computer or a camera by pushing a button or clicking on a menu choice. Don't wait until you are trying to get the perfect shot. Shoot the wall across the room, the tree out the window, etc. see what happens and ask the manual or a friend for help. Questions are good! there is no silly question.

Do you have local friends you can compare cameras with? Try shooting with each other’s cameras with and without tripods to see how much difference operator makes and how much is the camera.

I never buy new tech until it has been out for long enough to get reviews from real users.

Because I take wild life photo (mainly in my backyard) I don’t always have time to do any settings. Therefore I keep my camera out on a table and set on auto and ready to go. If I have time I shoot manual, but always end with a last shot in auto to be sure I have on the camera set back to auto. But it is also interesting and educational to compare my manual photos with the auto one.

from the trail camera in my back yard.Stills from a video. A fawn having dinner and then mom gives it a bath. The fawn was very energetic about nursing, and the doe was very thorough with the bath. Does anyone know of a forum for trail camera users?

Excellent shot both technically and artistically.
What do you mean"twin fawns are separated by their mother"? Almost afraid to ask.

Deer Fawn Facts

WTDeerFawn_WJBerg_USFWS.jpg
Spotted white-tailed deer fawns offer one of the most appealing sights in nature. Fawns typically appear walking closely to their protective mother or bounding across a field with seemingly unlimited energy. However, in May and June many fawns are found curled up in the field or forest alone, with no vigilant doe in sight. Is this an orphaned fawn? Almost certainly never!

White-tailed deer mate in the fall (October – December). The male deer (buck) plays no role in raising fawns. After the female deer (doe) gives birth to one or two fawns and nurses them, she leads them into secluded habitat within her familiar home range. Twin fawns can be separated by up to 200 feet. The doe then leaves them alone for extended periods of time. The doe returns periodically to nurse them and to relocate them to new secluded habitat”
You can relax. She doesn’t abandon one.

Female Whitetail Deer with fawn
(Odocoileus virginianus)
W. Kentucky, 8/1/018

Interesting Tidbit: The average fawn has 294 to 306 spots.
Newborns are able to walk within hours of being born. Fawns
are essentially odorless to predators. Fawns begin eating vegetation
after two weeks. Twin fawns are separated by their mother.

Nice shot. Here’s another fact about deer for your list - if a buck seriously injures a back leg the antler in the opposite side will not grow again.

This is a still from a trail camera video. I wish the resolution were higher, but I haven't seen any reviews of trail cameras with significantly highe resolution
