I'm contemplating ordering an R7. I wonder if anyone has had a similar issue using Canon's adapter on the R7 with Tamron or Sigma APS lenses?

I have not used my Tamron lenses on the R7 but I have used Sigma lenses on it. I have the Viltrox EF to RF adapter.

Explain the whole procedure to the Canon tech
I am currently using an R7 with the EF 100-400L mk2 and 1.4x III and have had anything like that happen.

I am also using an EF 100-400L II on one of my R7's and it has worked fine, no issues...

There are many tutorial videos on YouTube for the D850 that may be of interest to you. I bought my D850 when it first came out and for stills photography it's amazing. It's not the greatest camera for video, in my opinion, but it's adequate. I did not take a break from photography, and the D850 is my 3rd Nikon DSLR, so the learning curve wasn't as steep for me, and I haven't found it necessary to buy any additional books on the D850. I have found plenty of good D850 videos on the internet. Good luck with your camera and most important, have fun with your photography.

Really nice photo. The plant may not be generating electricity anymore, but it's really well lit up for being idle.

I bought my D850 new when it 1st came out. If anyone is looking for a really good prosumer DSLR, at $2,000 a factory refurbished D850 sounds like a really good deal to me. I've purchased both Canon and Nikon factory refurbished gear and it has always been like brand new, just costs less. Canon had a better warranty though.

Just received this new-to-me lens. Mounted on my 5d-iv and T7i and I hear a ticking noise in the lens with stabilizer mode ON. No noise in stabilizer mode OFF. Is this noise normal for this lens?

Yes, it is normal, unless it is really, really loud. If you listen closely to most stabilized lenses when the stabilizer circuitry is active you will hear a similar sound.

I have many cameras. and use them all at dif times for dif reasons. My newest Nikon Zfc came with a kit lens. but I want to get a prime for landscapes, street. I take numerous murals, so thinking a wide angle. Any suggestions?

I'm thinking someone who has many cameras and uses them at "dif" times for "dif" reasons, would probably know what prime lens to use for landscape and street photography. Yes, wide angle is quite commonly used for landscape and street photography. I suggest Nikkor lenses for your Nikon camera.

My Canon 5D M11 only managed 13,000 shots before it stopped working but it was not shutter related.

I didn't know Canon made 13 versions of the 5D camera, I only know of 6.

I’m planning on purchasing a Canon R6 within the next week or so with the RF 24 - 105 zoom lens. I’m also planning on adding either a Tamron 150 - 600 zoom or Sigma 150 - 600 zoom. Looking for any shirt comings if this setup or alternative suggestions. I’ve considered the R5 but I’m not sure I would get enough bang for the buck in the upgrade. Meaning I’m an amateur, not a professional, but I know my way around a camera and understand exposure and the related settings pretty well. My primary subjects would bee grand kids, family grandkids / kids sporting events, and landscapes.

Any drawbacks to the R6 or related lenses you can point out would be appreciated.

I was going to get an R6 but decided to go with the R7. Sure, the R6 is full frame, but you get more resolution and bang for the buck with the R7 than with the R6. I have the Sigma 150-600, in fact two of them, a Sport (Canon EF mount) and a Contemporary (Nikon F mount). You will need an EF to RF adapter to use either the Sigma or Tamron lenses. I use an adapter for all my EF mount lenses and it works perfectly.
With the exception of some landscape photography, I use my R7 for all the things you intend to be shooting. Grandkids, sporting events, other events, wildlife, trains, general photography, stuff like that, is what I've been using my R7 for and with 32.5 megapixels, cropping is not an issue, and, it's pretty darn good in low light situations, as good as or better than my 6D or 5D mk IV, which the R7 is smaller and lighter than.

Yes well the shutter can be pretty good at 400,000 but what's the rest of the camera like I wonder? Sloppy lens mount? Battered and dented body? LCD cracked and not working? Viewfinder full of dirt? Would you buy one 2nd hand with this much usage?

My 5D mk II is over 13 and a half years old and still works like it did when I bought it in 2009. The body is in really good condition with a few scuffs and the lens mount is just as tight as it was 13 years ago. Does it have 400,000 actuations on it, no. Is the LCD screen cracked, no. Is their dirt in the viewfinder, no. Would I buy one with 400,000 plus actuations? No. I already have one and it's in pretty darn good shape. Plus, I haven't really used it in a while and it's stored in a large cabinet with sliding glass doors.

I once broke the LCD screen on my 6D and it cost about $75 USD to replace.

Just because they put a "limit" on shutter actuations doesn't mean it's going to fail shortly after that "limit" is reached. If a shutter is rated for 400,000 actuations, it means the manufacturer is confident the shutter won't fail in under 400,000 actuations. There really is no actual limit. Like any mechanical device, it will keep on working until it doesn't, and if it's well made, that could be a very long time.

I'm pretty sure Canon's EOS technology has little to do with shutter longevity. It's simply a really well made shutter and I'm guessing a really well maintained camera. Yes, not a fluke.

Of course everyone knows Canon is doing this for the money, nothing else.

Sometimes big, profit making companies lose sight of how best to grow their base, and this is a classic example.

As I have said before, I am an administrator and moderator of several worldwide photography groups in Facebook. These groups include users of all brands and many Canon owners or Canon prospective owners have said they are moving away from Canon for its very shortsighted actions here. The reality is Canon ultimately will lose amateur and even pros over this dumb move.

Canon's competitors will reap the benefits. It is already happening.

Just today 9/21/22 ,professional wedding photographer and longtime Canon user Taylor Jackson posted a new youtube video where he talks about why he sold his Canon R3 and got another brand camera.

His main reason is he can now use the new superb quality third-party Tamron 35-150mm f2-2.8 lens for shooting all day at his weddings, and he could not use such a third-party lens with his Canon R3 camera. And he found other practical advantages with the new brand and model camera he is now using.

I'm Selling My Canon R3 (And What I've Replaced It With) (Taylor Jackson)

Only folks not looking at reality will think Canon's move wont hurt them in the long run. And FYI again I was a Canon pro user for over four decades and have no dislike for Canon.

Cheers and best to you all.

"Of course everyone knows Canon is doing this for the money"
What an idiotic statement. Yes, Canon is in the business to make money. Most businesses are in the business they are in, to make money. When another company steals newly patented technology and markets inferior quality knockoffs, the right thing to do is to stop them. If they, Viltrox, want to buy licensing rights from Canon, like other companies like Sigma and Tamron do, then wait until Canon is ready to do so, like Sigma and Tamron are doing.
As for the nothing else part, not exactly accurate. Poorly manufactured knockoffs have been known to damage people's equipment and Canon is not only trying to protect Canon, but also Canon users.
Like I previously stated, why do people think it's a good idea to mount knockoff lenses of questionable quality on their expensive Canon camera bodies?

I have an iphone 14 on order too. I’m thinking I’ve got this high end R6 and out of the camera the iPHone looks better. Very discouraging. I have however made some nice enlargements from a zoo visit last year with the Canon.

Did you maybe consider if you had the R6 set correctly, the resulting image would be better? From what I read in your posting, you're the one who set the R6 to overexpose the image.
