Having seen one of those repair videos mentioned, I would say that anyone who can use a screwdriver will be able to repair the lens or the camera.

The video was about 45 minutes and I would be willing to do the repair myself if it was my camera. Perhaps you should have a look at the video.

Apparently you have never taken a complex auto focus zoom lens apart, then tried to put it back together and have it actually work. For one, you need a lot more than just a screw driver.

it's actually 18-150 and it is a great walk around combo with the R7.

I agree, it is a nice little lens, but I prefer my Canon 18-200, and unlike many UHH members, I have no problem with an EF to RF adapter, as long as it works.

Where is Paul Sager? I know it’s windy where you are but could you give us a shout out?

He's probably out shooting with his Sony.

I love Allen's Camera in Levittown, Pa., outside Philadelphia. They are also the fav of Jared Polin (FroKnows) as it is where he got his start. I found much better success ordering new gear from Allen's. They also stock and sell top used gear (even Adorama buys used gear from Allen's to sell at Adorama. I have witnessed Adorama buying used gear at Allen's). https://allenscamera.com/

Glad you got the two that you wanted. You could check with Allen's and see if they would give you anything on a trade for one of those 18-150mm lenses, or check with KEH. Probably not worth too much, but you might get something for it, rather than having it just collect dust sitting on a shelf.

Cheers and best to you.

Collecting dust? My camera/lens cabinet has sliding glass doors; no dust allowed. But, I probably will gather up some of my unused lenses and trade them in on something I will use more often. Yes, I watch Jared Polin on YouTube and I've been to Allen's Cameras; I have family in Levittown; and Allen's is a really nice store.

Advertising a back ordered product as in stock is cruel and the people should be shot in the knee. This is as bad as Abe’s of Maine, I mean New Jersey.

Everyday I drool over the Canon R3. I wait and wait and my beard and mustache grow longer. Yet everyday B&H still lists it as backordered.

The R3 is backordered because of parts availability. Canon needs certain parts to make them and they have to wait just like everyone else. Instead of waiting for B&H to get R3's in stock, place an order with the same company B&H buys them from, Canon. The price will be the same and Canon will have them before B&H does.

You clearly need to find two users who absolutely love that lens but have badly damaged their current examples. IOW, rotsa ruck widdat !

It's really no big deal. I actually occasionally use one of the lenses and the other is content hanging out in my camera/lens cabinet with all the other lenses.

I tried to send an EF 50 1.2 lens to Canon and was told it was out of date for repair. That's when I looked at Royal.

The only time a lens should be out of date for repairs is when the needed parts are no longer available. Some repair facilities buy used lenses just for their parts inventory. Canon does not do that. Several years ago my EF 85 f/1.2 was in need of repair. I checked with Canon and they told me parts for that lens, because of its age, may not be available but they wouldn't know until it was disassembled. That's when I found Authorized Camera Repair. I got lucky because they had a parts lens and the part I needed.
When my 28-300L died, Authorized Camera Repair told me that since the lens is still in production, Canon would have the parts and would probably do the repair quicker and cheaper. Authorized Camera Repair quoted me $750 for the repair and said they would have to order parts. I took their advice and sent the lens by overnight mail to Canon's repair facility in Virginia. They received the lens on a Wednesday and called me with a cost quote the next day, Thursday. I paid them over the phone and had my rebuilt 28-300L back in my hands the following Monday. Cost was $650.

That is the way Canon wants it, packaged with a kit lens Canon makes more money off the start than just selling a body alone. Don't blame the dealers for any shortages.

One tip, I have found over the decades as a pro shooter that it is often better to order the newest latest gear from a local mom & pop dealer and be on a much shorter wait list, than be behind hundreds of orders at the big boys like B&H and Adorama. I still buy some gear from the big boys, but always order my hot, newest, latest gear from my favorite local mom and pop dealer, where I can easily be first or at the top on their list.

Cheers and best to you all.

I don't blame anyone, just marketing practices. I already have two R7's and I use both of them. My issue is they both came with the 18-150 lens and I certainly have no need for two of those lenses and right now there isn't much of a demand for them. In fact, I am not even using the kit lens. I have adapters on both bodies and use my EF lenses on them and they work quite well. As for the big camera retailers in NYC, I got one R7 from Best Buy in Delaware, no sales tax, and one from Canon. I originally ordered the camera from Canon and was put on a waiting list. I then saw the Best Buy near me in North Delaware had them in stock, so I drove down to DE from PA and got one. I then cancelled my order with Canon, or thought I did, but apparently didn't, because a few days after going to Best Buy, the R7 from Canon was delivered. Now I have two 18-150 lenses when I didn't really want any. Know anyone looking for an RF 18-150 lens?

Surprisingly Exton Park was fairly dry after quite a lot of rain on Wed and Thursday. There were lots of Warblers which I was expecting but my day was made when a Kingfisher flew in and landed in a tree across the pond. And then on my walk back to the parking lot a Harrier flew in hunting for something on the ground.

Nice photos. I was at Exton park on Tuesday but it must have been the wrong time of day. Nothing interesting flew my way. The place I've seen the most Kingfishers in this general area is down on the Perkiomen in Oaks. I don't know why but I've seen several of them just below the old ice pond dam near where the trail does the dog leg on Lower Indianhead.

I have performed an inquiry regarding who has EOS R7 body only in stock. I usually use B&H I have one on backorder, but they did not claim in stock.
Adorama claimed R7 body only in stock, as did Mike's Camera in Sacramento. When I went to their website the R7 was on backorder.
The wait has been frustrating but claiming "in stock" and not having the product is just wrong.

What I don't quite understand is there doesn't seem to be a problem getting the R7 with a kit lens but try finding just the body only. The lens isn't a bad lens. Sure, it's not L quality, but it is a decent lens.

It's almost like the coupon situation at the State Fair of Texas. You pay for food not with cash but with coupons you purchase from kiosks. Each coupon is worth $1.00. At the end of each day, each vendor takes the day's coupons for weighing and get paid according to the weight. It has been known to have some vendors to try to falsify the weight...such as with fluids, with food scraps, and even with adding dollar bills to the stack. A $1 Bill is about the weight of 8 coupons, ie. $8. There is a group of 12 coupon detectives, whose job it is to check each batch for tampering before weighing. BTW, most vendors are honest and submit only dry coupons.

Sounds like a rather odd but interesting system they use. I know many places the vendors don't take cash, paying is done with tickets, or coupons, but the tickets/coupons work just like cash. I don't understand the weight part.

I also I have used Precision Camera, in Enfield, Conn., the largest camera gear repair center in the USA. Also excellent.

Cheers

I've never used Precision Camera. Between Authorized Camera Repair and Canon repair, I've had no need to go elsewhere.
One of the things I like about the guys at Authorized is they are honest. They've actually told me to send some lenses I've brought in for repair to Canon because Canon would more than likely do the repair faster and for less money. For example, when my EF 28-300L needed repairing, the guys at Authorized told me, sure they could definitely repair it, but Canon will do it much faster and for less. They were right. Canon repaired it for $100 less than Authorized estimated the repair would cost and Canon had my lens back to me in just a few days.

The arrow is most definitely intentional and yes, the logo was designed.

I remember seeing something on TV about the cost of advertising and that FedEx paid something like a million dollars for their corporate logo. I guess so called hidden arrows aren't exactly cheap.
